Re: Lexus V8 conversion vir KZ-TE
Jack, as jy die ding reg doen, gaan hy jou so tussen R60 000 en R70 000 kos. Dis nou as jy dit laat doen.
Self doen weet ek nie. IIRC kos die enjin so in die omgewing van R9000, ordentlike radiator(BMW 740) so tussen R2000 en R3000, ECU Dicktator so R3500/R4000, Microtech so R11 000.
Die is wat ek min of meer weet. Hoe akkuraat dit is, weet ek nie.
Ek weet ook nie wat mens alles nodig het vir die ombouing nie. Maar ek is seker die ander manne sal die lys aanvul.

Herman wouldn't the Lexus v8 require a little more than the standard dicktator, like the multi-coil version, R 3500, or wasted spark version, R 2950??

Re: Lexus V8 conversion vir KZ-TE
Yes Bretton you are right and Blom/Spartan the Dictator Advanced Units can be pre populated with the right components and coding on the triggering circuit inside just like the Microtech to accept the standard Toyota crank pick up without any interface or modification. Jaco I actually forgot to make a video clip for you of Marius Nel's bakkie's trigerring. It runs a Dictator Wasted spark setup with the magnetic circuit indicated below and 36-1 coding and using my timing light the "tipex" mark on the crank pully is totally stationary at one spot when she idles, it looks like it is paited onto a fixed part. IIRC you will also need an external multichannel Igniter ( R650) for a Lexus engine as its coils does not have built in igniters like the 3RZsnipes wrote:Herman wouldn't the Lexus v8 require a little more than the standard dicktator, like the multi-coil version, R 3500, or wasted spark version, R 2950??

They also make a nice gearbox controller to control the Lexus Autobox for R 2500.

Re: Lexus V8 conversion vir KZ-TE
Just for interest sake:
I opened up a MR. Turbo system the other day and I saw that they use PIC`s ( http://www.microchip.com/stellent/idcpl ... &nodeId=64 ) as the microcontroller and the Dickatator units employees Atmel micro controllers ( http://www.atmel.com/microcontrollers )
Just thought I would share some useless information.
It`s a pity that that the Dicktator cannot accept a 5V input from a lambda sensor for logging purposes.

Re: Lexus V8 conversion vir KZ-TE
Herman, a properly dynotuned and mapped ECU does not require a lambda probe... it's us that tinker to much after the dyno that makes a mess of it... so in that case a lambda probe could be useful... so far I have left my dyno'd map pretty much as is... and my Dicktator controlled EFi is running beautifully, 93kw from a 4Y 2.2... there is a work around if you want to use a lambda probe, the Dicktator allows for a pot to be connected for fine adjustment(range can be adjusted via software) of the AFR(air fuel ratio), and if you got a display for the lambda probe, then you can fine tune the AFR via the pot.

That would be interesting since the diff ratio is 4.1 and would be nice and low for that V8.

Re: Lexus V8 conversion vir KZ-TE
I heard that it has a hydraulic pump that has to be stripped out if not used.
I must still buy a fanbelt, so if I can bypass it for now it would be great. maybe someday one can use that pump to drive a hydraulic winch

Re: Lexus V8 conversion vir KZ-TE
If you remove the pump but have the aircon fitted, then the fanbelt I use is a 6pk1815 belt. If you keep the pump (remember to strip out the vanes and seal the unit) then you'll need a longer belt...

Piet if you loose the hydraulic pump the belt will slip when the aircon is on and the lectric fan kick in and cause the alt to draw extra power because of the route the belt goes the contact area on the main drive pulley is reduced . The rigt belt is a 6pk 2245 but that is difficult to find so use a 6pk 2240 .

Would say go and get yourself the back sump setup from fana. DONT go get it anywhere else, the casting are all the wrong size. Going thru the surge tank is alot of work and it's full benifits are only felt in sumthing like a race car for the track. The only benifit im hoping for is that the heat of the oil is away from the motor, I run 7 liters of oil as aposed to 5, less oil splash in the sump, less air bubbles in the oil as the oil has time to settel and push the air out ( the oil is more conditioned) and the truck would have to be on it's roof before it starts to suck air.
