Just a question?

Post by pampoen »

For those guys who have done 7mge conversions to the SFA hilux how high did you lift the body for the motor to fit?

Kaspaas has an exactly 0mm body lift... a bodylift is not necessary...

Nope firewall is not cut, Allan (Hoppy) will tell you all about the engine mountings... It used to be Ford V6 mountings but they kept on breaking, so he shopped some funky other mountings that he know the origins of, and they really work well. I think they are Ford Bantam gearbox mountings but I am not sure.

When I got my Lux it still had the 22R mountings but the left one kept on braking. So when I overhauled the engine I remodifed the mounts (as the engine fitter did a poor job on kutting of the Lux mounts and welded on new one's) and fitted some cruiser mounts. No prob's so far, but I will not recument it but in my case it works well.

Allan says that normally they use standard 4Y mounts, but in my case I also inherited Kaspaas with the Hilux mounts removed and replacement mountings welded on to fit Ford V6 mounts.

I cut the steel pipes that run around the back of the motor out and reroute them up and over the motor to give clearance at the back.
I move the motor and box 40mm back to get space for the fan and even then it doesn't touch the firewall, maybe your engine is mounted to high?
Std 4y, 22R or 2L mounts will work if you fit them with their shrouds and at the right angle.
