Welkom aan almal van ver! Meskien is ek voor op die wa? Ek is nie seker of julle al so iets gedoen het nie maar meskien moes ons n tipe van n "TOY RUN" of n speel goed insameling moes gedoen het met die geleentheid en dit dan nader aan die groot dae erens gaan aflaai het - dog maar net.

Dis sekerlik bietjie laat om so iets by hierdie event in te werk, maar dis 'n great idee Harry, wil jy nie vir ons so iets reel nie? Ek is seker ons sal 'n lekker klomp Hilux manne bymekaar kry vir so 'n event. Ons kan dit even op 'n streeksbasis doen, met Toy-Runs in Kaapstad, Gauteng, Vrystaat, Natal en ander plekke... Ons begin 'n nuwe thread met hierdie moontlike event.

Ja, Thys dit is bietjie te laat om n "TOY RUN" projek hierdie naweek te reel. Ons moet vroeg November probeer die ding reel. Die streek idee van jou klink goed.

The Italiam Motorcycle Club (IMOC) do this everyyear in november with thousands of bikes going to Maynardville in Kenilworth - it's not only for bikers - you guys can come around as well - bring the kids it's great sports. Last year Helen Ziller made an appearance there.

But if you guys want to do something - do what the Christian Motorcycle Club did, They gathered supplies and toys i.e. toothpaste, soaps towels etc and went to a childrens home in tulbagh and handed it out there had a meal, played some games with the kids and went home!

It's an idea to think of.....

I like the idea of looking wider than just the toys, as this does not feed hungry tummies! Maybe we should try and get one of the chainstores on board as well?

Also please don't misunderstand me, I was not knocking the toy runs that the biker clubs do! In fact I'm quite jealous of what they manage in the given time, and the number of members that take part!

Or even beter - If it just Toyota's or Hiluxe's get Toyota involved - good media coverage for them - has to be a good selling point for them - giving something back to the comunity

There's no reason why we cant do exactly what the bike clubs do, lets face it, there are no real differences between the nuttness we all express towards our vehicles. And except for the fact that our means of perambulation is 4 wheel driven as opposed theirs being 1 wheel driven plus we dont have to wear helmets and leather clothing in the heat, we're all basically the same kind of people. Rough(ish) outside, with kind hearts.

I like the ideas you guys are batting around, they can all work well.

We need somebody to drive the organisastion of this event, as I am flat-out busy every weekend until mid-December with training and other activities. Any volunteers?

Toys are great, gets the Xmas spirit going.

Seeing that we are 4x4 outdoor people maybe a trip to a nearby mission station via gravel roads etc...

Ek het ook nog nooit so iets gedoen nie, maar is beslis 100% vir so iets en sal help waar ek kan. As ons n paar idees saam gooi dan is ek seker ons sal die ding van die grond af kry. Ons moet seker begin en besluit in wat se area ons n verskil gaan maak en wat se organisasies daar is.
Ek het ook gedink ons Kaapenaars kan n end uit ry en n dag daarvan maak.
Ek het dit gister aan Ilze Cloete genoem per e-mail. Sy is die Sales manager van Toyota by Kuils rivier. Hulle was baie behulpsaam met die Atlantis dag en sal seker ook aan so iets belangstel?

Harry, jy kan ook met Rupert Mansfield by Barloworld in Kuilsrivier praat. Hy is baie keen om betrokke te raak.

Hi Guys, I can't volunteer - with the new baby on the way the wife is keeping me very busy, But I would suggest it be called a Hilux Charity Run - so that it's not only toys - but clothing, school supplies and and some grub.

What we did last year was we went to a childrens home - took the kids out on our bikes on a round trip and then had hot dogs for the kids to eat - we supplied everything and the kids were extremely happy about being able to take a ride on a bike.

We should maby look at doing something simlar - i.e. taking kids from an orphanage - and driving to the nearest play-route for 4x4's or driving them up paarl rock - or something like that.

Barry - I agree, it should not only be limited to toys only and we must supply them with a meal on the day. Where did you go last year and how many kids were there?
