Hi guys
Im new on the site and thought I would just introduce my Hilux to you :) I have owned the vehicle since 2000 where I bought it from a mate for 40 000 after he managed to sink it in the sea.( complete submersion) This must be the tuffest and most well used Hilux in Port Elizabeth and even if I have to win the lotto this vehicle will stay my favourite :D

Re: Hi guys
Hi Lindsay,
Welcome to the forum!
You may not know it, but you have the honour of being the most discussed (non-, at the time...) member here! We are aware of your 1800 Golf carb conversion as discussed on the old SA 4x4 forum, until it just disappeared into cyberspace. Since then, we have had many people wanting more details about this, so it's great to have you (eventually!!) here on the Hilux forum.
It just goes to show, Jeremy Clarkson couldn't destroy a Hilux by drowning it, setting it alight, demolishing a 14-storey building with the Hilux placed on top of it, so your Hilux enjoying a dip in the ocean was just a refreshing swim - although I hope it enjoyed a good shower with fresh water afterwards :)

Re: Hi guys
thanks for the welcome legend and bulldog
that last pic was taken at Dans Den in Steytlerville after some very heavy rain. the challenge was to complete the obstacle course(pic above that one) wich is normally quite challenging when dry it took me about 4 hrs to complete a 50m stretch of holes 2m x 2m x2m, a table top covered in slime and a mud pit with a meter of water. was never towed or pushed once but the mud got in everywhere

I stay up in Kabega area, we play on a regular basis and it will always be nice to have someone else join us. I do quite a few off road rallies (Ride backup)with quad east cape and normally end up being the only guy in a 4x4 so it will be fun to have some backup for the backup
i ride the van every day so when you see it you wont miss it. it stands over 6 foot high and is normally covered in mud

Re: Hi guys
Please tell me more about the golf carb. What is the fuel consumption? What size jets you used? Is it an origenal golf carb or a one of the cheap, "pirate" ones you get at Midas? What did you use for a base plate?
