I just fitted 2 new tyre to my Trusty Hilux, My old tyres we full of flat spots, I suspect my shocks need replacing too.
Now what Shocks should I go with?
I asked the salesman at Supa quick for a quote while I was having my battery replaced, he says Gabriel Safari, are not available for my model, 2006 3.0D4D
He recons I should go for the Monroes. They sound rather pricey though.
What cost am I looking at realistically?
Where in the Pretoria / Jhb Area can I get the best deal on a new set?
New shocks required
Re: New shocks required
Gabiel Safari not available.....? Seems strange? If not they can use Prado or KZTE shocks also, same mount.

My brother fitted 4 new Monroe Gas Magnums at Centurion Supa Quick for R2,500 earlier this year. Negotiate with them.

Re: New shocks required
You do get Gabriel Safaris for the Vigo.
You are looking at +/- R 1400.00 for 4 shocks.
Buy them from your local spares shop and get Supa Quick to fit it.
Much cheaper.

Do yourself the favour and upgrade now. My Monroes recently collapsed after a relatively shrt life. My advice would be to spend a bit extra and get something decent. You WONT regret it.

Re: New shocks required
The eye that connects to the lower control arm compressed and broke off. The aftermarket shocks (OME, Ironman, TJM ect) have a thicker eye and can take more pressure

I read that the Gabriel Safari shock (white one) is being replaced by the new heavy duty Gabriel Safari HDP shock. Not sure about pricing though, but sounds worthwhile to do some research on. http://gabriel.co.za/news/new-heavy-dut ... -absorbers" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

If I remember correctly, the Monroes have 3 year warranty, but check with supplier first.
