Took my KZ to Kosie for a run as I felt I was missing power... and so he was......

here is the graph, boost only at 0.4bar (I can go up to 0.8) but was happy with what she is making at 0.4

Power Output Before

82.9kw
271nm

Power Output After

95.7kw
341NM

They recon at 0.8 bar it will be round 105kw and 380nm :)

Hi Guys

Not sure at this stage if I want more, the van flies as it is, this is standard boost, but better map. I think every Dyno is different, infact I know this, SAC would prob give me 120Kw reading haha, (never trust that dyno).

I am in the process of selling, so I want to keep it reliable!

:veryhappy: :veryhappy: :veryhappy:

1. What size tyres were fitted to the vehicle?
2. Was this a Jap or Chinese 4Y?

Hi Louis,

Sjoe, dit lyk impressive.

Ek het gou met myne vergelyk. Hoekom verloor my engine so baie krag teen hoer revolusies? My torque is great teen laer rpms, maar ek verloor nogal baie soos die rpms klim. (Lyk of my "powerband" rondom 3500 rpm is ...)

Hi Luigi,

How many kilo's on your engine? Mine is also a 4y, running 31's. I got way more than 44 hp (Thanks again Louis and Bennie). (See on page 6 of this thread, BenHur posted my data)

My engine was dyno'ed when it only had about 5 000 km on. I think I will have to dyno again when the engine has done about 20 000km (hopefully run in by then).

Speak to Louis (4x4megaworldpta), he did mine. Some of the not so obvious benefits - my bakkie had a really bad flat spot between 1500 rpm and 2000 rpm with the Carb. That is all over now.

Fuel consumption is still improving (engine is still running in), but, I get around 7.5 - 8 km/l, with the 31" tyres and fully laden.

You don't have to gear down on hills anymore.

The list goes on, but as you can see, I am very impressed.

Luigi it help saving on your fuel account.

Rian tyres defenatly play a big role, size & also tyre pressure.

I see a lot of the L/C 79 & L/C70 guys that fit new rims and 285 tyres so that the Cruiser look mean, later they complain about the "mean" fuel account. Then 3 -6 months later they go smaller to 265's. By then they had paid for 2 sets of tyres, a heap of money on fuel.

Hi all,

Eventually got my bakkie to Schalk for the dyno tune. He sure knows his story!

22R with EFI, Dicktator, 31 " tyres. He didn't do the "before" test because he didn't want to damage anything, WHAT A PLEASURE!!

Cheers,

Lollie, it is like a BAT OUTTA HELL!!! compared it what it used to be. On top end i have not opened it out fully as yet as I am running out of road. It just scary for a big vehicle to run like that. I constantly remind myself that the brakes are still the old ones.

Mark u cant catch me now. :boss:

Oh so true.....

I think with any engine conversion it should be compulsory to to at least a power break conversion

How do they measure the torque figures on the 4y's, I see they are pushing 152nm and the 7mge is pushing 167nm. Something is not right there because the 7mge has almost double the torque of those 4y motors unless that is the conversion rate on the flywheel as apposed to the wheels.

That figure doesn't make that big a difference. I am still of the opinion that these Dyno meters measuring on the wheels are only indicative and cannot be taken as exact. In most cases the wheels are running on steel rollers which have been run smooth over time. So you have a lot of wheel slippages. So different tyre pressures, compounds, dimensions, age would have a huge effect on the dyno. m2cw

Everdt, go to the previous page and you will see it near the top. I am also getting 167nm at a lower rpm than you and the same kw at 5100. With the gas flow you have about 8kw more at higher revs.
Afew years ago I had mine dynoed near OR tambo and the torque was 240nm and 98kw with my other head which was gas flowed and the dictator ecu. After the engine rebuild I changed the head because it got a bit thin and was pinging to much and then put in the OEM ecu. Less power but much better consumption.
I spoke to Steven Green the other day from RG motorsport and he recons I should put a chip in and it should give me another 15% power increase.

Ja ou swaer.
Mark you are talking of another R3 500 roughly, you think it is worth it ? You know tha other guy's results were 118 HP and 168 Nm. I have a beter performance and consumption now. I questionmark his results very much. Thanks for your referal.

Dia ander Mark.
