Airbag Suspension SFA
After a discussion with a friend about his trucks airbag suspension i thought why not do it on my SFA? The airbags are not that expensive and I think coupled with some decent monroe shocks it should be a very very comfortable ride. I don't do too much offroading so comfort is king when it comes to my needs. Now I am planning on fitting airbags all around and taking out some of the leafs in my suspension. I want to have just enough so that if the airbags fail I could still drive but soft enough so that the vehicle is resting on the airbags mostly. This is not a hugely expensive option and best of all my ride hight is adjustable. Wouldn't mind being able to lower the vehicle slightly for long distance on the highway and raising it nice and high for offroad use.
What do you guys think?

Re: Airbag Suspension SFA
The air bags fitted onto the SFA are more like truck rubbers and do not have a lot of give like as on the coils. Doubt if it will be softer if at all?

Re: Airbag Suspension SFA
I spoke to the supplier and they said it would be alot softer if the leafs are setup soft. The guy I spoke to used to be involved with 4x4 megaworld and seemed to know quite a bit about aftermarket suspensions. I will wait to hear from a fellow SFA owner who has fitted these on the back and take it from there.

Re: Airbag Suspension SFA
Ok, I think you are right the design of the specific airbag they want to sell me is not the rolling sleeve type. So it won't offer the same sort of comfort. And in order to fit the rolling sleeve type I would have to change my suspension setup to a 4link. This would just work out too expensive and a waste as I wouldn't be using it offroad enough to justify it. Looks like I will stick with OME.

Re: Airbag Suspension SFA
Pity though, would have been awesome, like driving on a cloud of air in a SFA. The most comfortable vehicle suspension wise that I have felt was a older model Disco with the air suspension. Felt soooo good!

Why not just reduce the number of blades in the pack?

I don't have OME yet and my tyres are scraping when turning sharply.

Re: Airbag Suspension SFA
I would not fit airbags. Too much strain at a potentially weak point of the chassis. OME comfort suspension is the way to go.

I agree with Mud Dog.Rather fit OME or one of the equivelant other after market syspentions.Lot more hardy and will give you a comfy ride and improve road handling.

Re: Airbag Suspension SFA
Thanks for the help guys! I am planning on keeping my SFA for a long time so I want to modernise it as much as possible so that it can have all the comforts and features of a modern vehicle. I think OME should help do that. If I win the lotto then it's def a 4 link with the proper airbags!!!
