Roofrack and Compressor advice - plz

Post by Ridgeback Strong »

Hi Guys

Please help me ,Im new on this forum.
I recently bought a well look after 2004 KZTE 4x4 D/C and 146k km on the clock and with some extras
It has a 60liter extra long range tank and a ARB bush bar.
Are well lifted and give me extremely driving pleasure.
It had a alliminium roof carrier on,which I did not see as the prev owner removed it for hes new Hilux.
Thus the holes are vissible where it was fitted.

I really would like to buy a very good, strong reliable Roofrack , and yes also a Compressor.
But 1st things first and that the roof rack.

Please advise ,perhaps second hand or what do you guys advise?

Hi Gert en welkom

You can buy a second hand roof rack, usually with a few holes in, if you are not to fussy but will also have to buy the 'feet' that match the roofrack for your vehicle. This can be pretty costly. So at the end of the day you actually are paying for a second hand roofrack @ new price......

Do your homework before buying a RR

Hi Gert

Most Toyotas end up with Frontrunner roofracks on (like mine as well).

I bought my rr on Gumtree and had a local 4x4 shop fit the rails (that they supplied ex Frontrunner).

Where are the holes in the roof? Are they in line with the black roof strips that run parallel to the doors? If so it could have been Frontrunner. BTW the rails cost about R1000 if I remember, bacause I had to pay for the courier cost to Cape Town as well! You will in all probability get away cheaper. Just make supre that they seal the holes where the screws go in with Sikaflex (the best silicone there is!) otherwise you are heading for a built in shower the next time you drive in the rain! ;)

Hello Gert. Welcome to the forum..

First buy the compressor.... you can't inflate your tyres with a RR, and you can't enjoy your Hilux offroad without deflating your tyres..
