New shocks - What would you get?

Post by Marty »

At the moment the bakkie got - Gabriel® SAFARI Shock Absorber (5600 Series) on.
"Features:
Designed for bakkies & SUVs
Extra heavy duty
Big bore size
Pressurised with nitrogen gas
Benefits:
Premium performance
Suitable for use on normal, as well as off-road
Used for:
Half-ton, 2x4, 4x4 and bakkies |MPVs and SUVs"

I thought it was a all round good shock to use. Now when you replace what would you look at and why?

Gabriel again, good allround value for money, unless you have lots of extra cash lying around?

Can't beat the Gabriel, best Quality/price ratio

You'll pay 5 times more for something that's a little better with the same guarantee.

have a look at the rancho 9000, really great shock and they adjustable depending on terrain/load got them for R700 each,
gabriel/monroe was quite alot harder ride.

my bakkie actually handles and feels like a subaru on gravel roads now.

Very happy with Monroe Gas Magnum.

Would really like the Rancho (also part of the Monroe group?).

Did you add the "Rancho In-Cab Remote Adjuster" as well?

What would the benefit (if any) be in purchasing coil over shocks, like CAMIL for example???

Had them in my Isuzu 350KB. Shook the fillings out my teeth, and it seriously reduces wheel articulation.

50 to 55 mm lift. no need to adjust or change anything. Done 20K now & happy with it. Affordable, durable, excellent ride, excellent off road, can really take a load, adjustable and no retrictions to articulation or flex as some would believe, poor man's suspension system. Would I fit it again..? Hell yeah.

Had these on my Ford Supercab 3.0 TDCi. They were finished before doing 20 000km on the bakkie. Put in Monroe Gas Magnum, done 80 000km now, but they are due for replacement now. But will fit Monroe Gas Magnum again.
