Which Antivirus program are you using
Was just wondering what antivirus you are using?
I've heard of so many guys using all sorts of free versions but still getting infected.
I've switched over to Avast a few years ago and since then... no more issues.
They also have a free version (free but effective). Have a look here: Avast Free Version

Re: Which Antivirus program are you using
I had previously always used Avast and even paid for a two-year subscription. Six months later, I bought a new PC with Win7 and from then onwards only used MSE which was highly rated at the time. Not so sure it still is as highly regarded but I have not had any issues on any of my computers, using only MSE on each of them. I liked Avast but felt it was an overkill using both Avast & MSE. MSE is, of course, free to legal Windows versions.

AVG, not the free one, and had no problem with it at all since I started 3 yrs ago. Norton is useless, well for me anyway, got a horrible virus when I used that...

Re: Which Antivirus program are you using
I used AVG for about 7 yrs. Picked up a virus from an e-mail that AVG never detected and it corrupted the boot sector. Had to take the PC in to be cleaned and the guys loaded Avast onto it for me. When I asked, they said that it was probably the best option and tried to explain to me how the different ones work ... showed me test specs and so on. The upshot was that for general home use Avast came in tops at that time. I've been using it for about 5 months now and the only problem I've found is that it slows the system down quite a bit ... probably because it scans almost every thing you do.

ESET NOD32.
Stay away from Norton, unless you like a very slow machine. Been using Nod 32 for a very long time now and have not had any issues.
Note - no AV is of any use if not updated regularly!

Been using the Microsoft Essentials for 3 years now with no problems at all.
Other virus packages slowed the network down and with the drawing packages it really made it a pain.
Microsoft Essentials is free of the internet and built for Microsoft products, so run without even knowing it's there and no clashing with firewalls and so on.
Used it on OS Windows XP, OS Windows Vista, OS Windows 7 32bit and 64bit and even on OS Windows 8 with no problem.

For home use Avira, found this to be the best of the lot, tried just about all of them and purposely infected my machine, (I work in IT), at one stage I needed to test a lot of the available options for customers that couldn't afford purchased versions.
