3.0 d4d error code

Post by rexx »

Hi ,

I am currently having an issue with my fortuner 3.0 d4d, when accelerating to overtake , with a heavy load( boat) i get the engine fault light coming on and it goes into limp mode, the car runs fine in all other instances, i connected it to my mates diagnostic machine and it gives me p2008 intake mainfold running solenoid , now that intake is quite complex, does anyone know what this solenoid looks like so i can remove and clean it ? Chris

P2008 / 58 :
When actual intake air volume detected by MAF meter continues to be smaller than volume estimated from boost pressure and intake air temperature sensor, ECM determines that swirl control valve is stuck closed.
(1 trip detection logic)
Swirl control valve VSV

Open or short in Swirl control valve VSV circuit

Intake manifold (swirl control valve)

EGR valve assembly

MAF meter

1. Check the vacuum hose connection of the swirl control valve system.

2. Disconnect the S9 VSV connector.
Measure the resistance of the VSV.
Standard resistance: ( 37 to 44 Ω) @ 20°C

3. Measure the resistance of the IAT sensor.
Standard resistance:
2.21 to 2.69 kΩ @ 20°C
0.49 to 0.67 kΩ @ 60°C

Hi Gents, So i sent the Fortuner into Toyota today for diagnostics, they found the problem pretty quick , was the airflow sensor, they wanted silly money for a new one, managed to get a second hand one for R400. So instead of costing R2100 it cost me R500 at Toyota for diagnostics and a couple of other bits and bobs and R 400 for the part that literally takes 1 minute to fit..... Car can now pull uphill at 4000 rpm comfortably.

My brother-in-law had the same problem on his td4 Land Rover. we just cleaned the airflow sensor (MAF) with electric cleaner and the problem was solved.

Chris

hi, i see this is old post, but i try anyway, did you have any lamp in your dash? and how did toyota solve this? did they connect the diagnostic on the car and drove a trip with a trailer or did they just connect and figure it out when the car was parking?
i have the same problem, on my car the vacuumhose is ok, the vavuumclock works when i use vacuum directly on the clock,
when i connect my universial diagnostictool i get som valvue from the airflowsensor, but not sure if the is correct valvue.
regards
