my lux was lonely..enter cruiser to the party
I needed a second vehicle and so now my hilux DC has a friend ( since they come from the same stable more or less). it is a 1981 land cruiser that was rebuilt from top to tail 4 years ago. could not resist !
I see most of the hilux team is already on the landcruiser forum, so I am clearly not alone in my passion for old working cars !

Tough old Cruisers, those .... just a bit too thirsty for my liking (or pocket)
When your road comes to an end ...... you need a HILUX!.
Life is like a jar of Jalapeño peppers ... what you do today, might burn your ass tomorrow.
Don't take life too seriously ..... no-one gets out alive.
It's not about waiting for storms to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain.
And be yourself ..... everyone else is taken!

Funny !
all the horses jumped under the bonnet to get out of the rain, the driver is a bit slower.

Very thirsty, but I always wanted an old, clean classic. SO this is it. Will get younger in my store and only be used for occassional trips.Mud Dog wrote: Tough old Cruisers, those .... just a bit too thirsty for my liking (or pocket)

Re: my lux was lonely..enter cruiser to the party
if you lucky you can get a fairly clean one starting at around 40k or even less ( but must know what you are looking for as there are some chancers out there...yes hard to believe but true ! :shifty: ) generally a fair condition one is about 50k-60k. It is a lot of car for not much money and if you fix a few things and look out that you do not buy a rust bucket, it should outlast you and the kids. But one has to accept that it does drink quite a bit if driven gently and drinks seriously when pressed.KOBUSL wrote:As ek mag vra, vir hoeveel gaan die ou Cruisers nou ?
mine is in a fair condition but has 300k on the clock so there are bound to be issues I however will not be using it for long tours, so will fix as needed and then maybe one day if cash allows, do a full restoration.
the 1980 and 81 of the series 60's seem to be the best in terms of holding their values.
I have been offered 20k more than I paid for it already so I could not have done too bad in the purchase I recon...but watch this space, it might be famous last words.
