22R MANIFOLD PROBLEMS

Post by Janpoker »

Hi
I have a 1998 SFA with 210 000km with no hassles to date
After noise started emminating from the engine a close inspection revealed the following problems:
Two small cracks on the outside of the manifold
One big crack on the inside
Front bolt sheared off and exhaust gas blowing out and is the source of the noise

Any suggestions on:
Fixing the cracks?
Removal of the sheared stud?
Tips to remove the manifold without shearing the remaining 7 studs?
Referral to a good workshop/mechanic to perform the above?

Thank you

Sien jy is naby, ons moet bietjie gaan ry by Rafters as jou Lux weer reg is.

Will that be Exhaust Manifold?

Cracks depends on the overall wall thickness of the piping. If it is rusted too much I wont bother. Time for replacement branch unfortunately.

The Studs should come out with a 2 nuts locked onto each other. The broken one you can google "stud removal"in Pretoria, those guys will travel to you and remove it.
