Cooper Discoverer or General Grabbers?

Post by Baasvark »

Hi Guys,

After reading the thread on the Velocity Raptors I did some research and found a few posts where users claimed they were only getting 35 - 45k km's on a set.... :thumbdown:

So now I'm looking for something else. Bridgestone is a little expensive - for this application. My truck will mostly be used for hunting & fishing with a little 4x4ing on the side.

What would you recommend?
Coopers = R2200/tyre 265/75/R15
General Grabbers pretty much the same price.

:twisted: :twisted:

Ek kan maar net my eie ervaring met Goodyear Wrangler A/Ts deel. Ek het hulle op 'n werksbakkie gesit. Isuzu KB250.

I have been running Coopers now for about 3 years, mileage is good, but I have replaced them regularly because of sidewall punctures. I do a lot of rough track work in our hunting concession on Cahorra Bassa. The local under the tree tyre repair guys up there will run a patch or failing which a chunk of inner tube over the hole which keeps me going until the end of the season, then when I come home I get them checked by my local supplier who nearly craps his pants :lol:
They have replaced 2 tyres as a gesture of goodwill and I have paid to have the rest replaced.
My take;
Coopers give good road holding and a nice ride with not a lot of road noise on tar.
On dirt and in 4x4 they are fine, same in soft sand given dropped pressures.
Sidewalls could be beefed up if I compare the durability with the Michelins I used to run.
Hope this helps.
