2.7 Hilux start and dies

Post by pietpetoors »

A friend of mine has a 2000 model 2.7 Hilux

He has been battling with it for more than a month now. He first had it at Toyota who could not solve the problem, they said it was something relating to the key and transponder which did not make sense. Now it is with Motolek in Vredenburg but each time they try something, he has to pay for the parts and then it is not that. Then they come up with the next thing that is the problem, he pays for the parts and then it is not that and he have to pay for the next guess.

The problem is:
If he starts the bakkie the engine idles for about 1 second and then it dies.
After about 6 tries it will run.

They first said it was the computer box, it was sent to CPT to test and it is fine
Then it was something else, then something else .
Somebody even said his key and transmitter's signal is to weak.

Anybody had something like this before or know where else they must search
I am taking my bakkie to him now so they can just exchange computer, alarm, etc boxes instead of him having to buy everything new all the time.

Hier is so skematiese voorstelling.

As ek so kyk gaan ekmyne beslis skoonmaak waneer my bakkie terug is by my.

Dit laat my ook wonder oor Cassie se petrolpomp teorie.
