Well, Ron, my '88 import model has one, so I'm sure yours should too. If you have dual tanks it takes forever for the light to come on once you've reached "empty". It seems the fuel guage only works on one tank...

I have checked the owners manual and mine ( a 89 model) did not come with a low fuel warning light.

Even drove mine below the empty mark for 50 km's and no light came on........ :o: :o:

Hi,

Mine doesn't seem to have 1 either...drove it till the needle went below empty and did another 80 odd km....no light.

They say you can easy drive another 100km with the needle being below the empty mark. :?:

Friend of mine had a '96 model and he was left stranden next to the road without fuel....no warning light.

I don't think mine has one either.
when I got it, it was going on fumes, and there was no light.
could test the theory of how far one could go on empty before it stall, then I just switch to GAS :D , but it's difficult to say as I have no light to guide me. you know the lux fuel gauge has the odd tendancy to jump down a quater at a time

The SFA Hilux does not have a fuel warning light. At least not those built in the early 90's, Maybe the Raiders had it in. My 1996 Aussie Spec SFA (like George's Sheila) had a fuel warning light.

I have just checked, all the SFA's that were sold in SA did not have a Low fuel warning light. Some of the other SFA's that were aussie spec and imports did come with a different cluster that had the warning light in it.....

Seems like it never important in our country to have a warning light....

Until the 80's it was not important to have a low-fuel warning indicator light in any car of any description. People seemed to have trusted their fuel guages. 8) 8)

It was probably built in after some stupid American got stranded without fuel after he ignored the fuel guage, and sued the manufacturers for gross negligence...

In those we all knew that days the 'E' meant Empty, not Enough and the 'F' meant Full, not Finished....
