Ek gaan probeer om my bakkie vir julle te wys. Ek het die foto's ge-upload na photobucket en geresize na 800x600.

Re: LouisK se bakkie
When I bought the Hilux 5 years ago, it had a Beekman canopy, which I had to remove everytime I wanted to transport large cargo. I also started hunting in the Kalahari and the farmers bakkie was fubar most of the time.
In 2004 I went on a hunting trip at Maasstroom in the far Northern Transvaal and nearly broke my neck when I was flung from an open bakkie without skaaptralies. The driver "forgot" there was people on the back and made a very sharp turn on a gravel runway. (Broken nose, broken arm, concussion etc etc)
Anyway I decided to get quotes for skaaptralies. Snyman 4x4 in Brackenfell made these for me for a mere R1800. Afterwards he admitted that he did himself in with such a cheap quote. My neighbour (1990 SFA hilux d/c) got a quote for R4500 sometime this year from the same Snyman 4x4. He decided to ask an amateur welder to make him "custom" tralies and his bakkie now looks like he's a greengrocer from the cape flats!
The biggest problem with skaaptralies is RAIN, but this year we started using large bins with a watertight lid to transport clothing and meat. It works well.

Re: LouisK se bakkie
Khumo Road Venture KL71. I got eight punctures on my previous set of tyres, Goodyear Wrangler HP's and ended up with 3 of the 4 tyres carrying inner tubes. My neighbour in Durbanville owns a small farm in Kliprand and he put the Khumo's on first. I closely checked his tyres for a year and they performed well with very little wear. Now I get no more punctures!astam wrote:Looks great! What tyres you got on there?

Thanks Louis. Good to hear. I'm due for 2 new tyres and looking around for something slightly cheaper than the Pirelli's (which I have) which cost R2500 each. My dad also rates the Khumos and now I can see that they look good too!

Re: LouisK se bakkie
The Khumo's are (in my opinion) not in the same class as the Bf Goodridge and Cooper tyres, but they are very good value for money. The retail price was R1900 per tyre, but I bargained the price down to R1450 per tyre because I bought 5 plus Gabriel Safari shocks.astam wrote:Thanks Louis. Good to hear. By the way my shocks was so old, the left front one was locked/rusted in the compressed position and it seems I have been driving without shocks for quite a while.
