Vibration on prop

Post by Cheetah Drakie »

Hi Guys and Gals,
Experiencing a shudder on the prop between 35 - 45 km/h. I suspect the U-Joints as there is play on the prop.

Can I remove the prop, and engage H4 and drive fairly slowly and smoothly using the front wheels. Will is be preferable to do that or to nurse the prop till Thursday when I can take her in.

If I remove the prop, and can send it in so long.
Any advice will help.
Regards
Peter :boss:

Also try not to strain the front drive train while using it as your only channel of propulsion - a low centre drive diff (hypoid gearing on the C/W & Pinion) is stronger in forward travel and weaker in rearward travel. The front diff works opposite to the rear so when travelling forward it is in fact actually running in reverse. You might experience a little bit of diff whine because of this, but that would be normal to expect.

A gentle driving style will be fine - just don't pull off like a drag racer, don't cart a heavy load and don't tow a trailer. ;-)
When your road comes to an end ...... you need a HILUX!.
