Is your airbag light on? Caused by the spiral cable? Toyota will repair it free if your's is one of those vehicles effected by the latest recall.
I unfortunately already paid and had mine repaired!!

Re: Toyota recall to repair airbag light - Free
I checked mine and it says its not effected. They probably have a list of those VIN numbers where the part was replaced and removed them off the recall list...

Mine a 2006 Fortuner and had it replaced at JBs about a month ago after the light came on. Whether mine falls into the recall category or not I am going to bug Toyota to reimburse me, at least for the part.

I was contacted by Toyota SA today and when they heard that the warning light is on they booked the Fortuner into Honeydew Toyota for tomorrow. I'm impressed.

Hello Nishan.
How did you check your Vin?Where?Cause I was at Toyota on friday and according to them they don't have any list for the recall yet. They even called some other dealership to confirm if they had received and list as yet.And they also said nothing yet but will contact me if mine is part of the recall cause it will cause a flag on there system until it sorted out.I had mine done 3/4 months ago and cost me R2150 and I would like my money back.

Re: Toyota recall to repair airbag light - Free
Your VIN number is on you registration certificate or there is a sticker on the inside of the passenger door frame. (B pillar, I think it's called)
On Friday last week, I listed my vehicle on the website that's floating around and also on http://recall.toyota.co.za/main/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; .
I got an automated reply and an SMS with a reference number. Then today a lady named Lindsay from Toyota SA head office called to say that when they had worked out the logistics of the recall they would contact me. In the discussion I mentioned that the airbag warning light was on. A half hour later she called to en quire which Toyota dealer is the closest. Another ten minutes and the vehicle is booked in at Honeydew Toyota for tomorrow.
If Honeydew Toyota perform like Toyota SA then I'll be seriously impressed. Will keep you posted.

Final chapter in the saga. I pitched up at Halfway Honeydew Toyota at 10:45 today. The service manager was expecting me. 45 min. and one cup of coffee later, I walked out of the door. Job done. Thank you Toyota SA and Halfway Honeydew Toyota.

Any further feedback on this issue? My boet in Saltrock can't get the Toyota dealer in Ballito to replace the part without paying for it first.

Re: Toyota recall to repair airbag light - Free
I have a 2006 3lt D4D DC 4x4 and I checked online using the recall link posted earlier in the thread but that indicated that my vehicle does not qualify for the recall. Then today I decided to try and find out why and stopped at Barloworld Toyota in Menlyn. The friendly lady there took the VIN number and made a call ( I assume to TOYOTA SA) and within minutes confirmed that it qualifies and that they have stock of the cable. It is booked for replacement on Monday. She told me that it is not a formal bulletin or recall as yet but Toyota seems to approve the requests as they come in.

Well I'm just back from Barloworld Toyota an the spiral cable was replaced free of charge as part of a "campaign". The airbag light is off again. I am happy to say that Toyota made good.

Re: Toyota recall to repair airbag light - Free
My 2005 4L V6 Toyota Hilux does not have the Airbag Light problem, but the Cruise Control stopped working about a year ago. Having read some time ago, that the spiral cable might have something to do with this, I decided that I want it fixed again and might have time next week to work on it. I started searching on how/what to do. I came across this post and decided, what the hell, let me see if if my VIN feature on the recall list - Lo and behold! It has been recalled!!
Yay! Vehicle is booked 07:45 Wednesday 24 December 2014! One thing less to "fix" (read modify) on my truck next week!

Re: Toyota recall to repair airbag light - Free
My Fortuners hooter stopped working. 2011 model. I thought I checked on the recall website, maybe just maybe my car is also part of the recall. But no it was not.
I went to our local dealer and the lady working with the claims made a phone call. Car was booked and fixed free of charge.

Awesome goeie diens van Halfway Toyota in Northgate gekry. Baie vriendelik, en hulpvaardig! Clock Spring is replaced en my Cruise Control werk weer. About 'n uur se werk gewees. Baie happy dat nog iets uitgesorteer is! :D

Is there an expiry date on the recall... I see the site no longer up. Does this mean toyota not doing replacement anymore?

Mine is a 08 and they replaced the airbag and spiral but it's seems like the d4d is only the airbag replacement and with 4l it's both

Got a notification from Toyota to confirm that my vehicle is on the recall list and authorisation was given via email to book the vehicle in at any Toyota dealer near me.

Re: Toyota recall to repair airbag light - Free
Hi all, I have a brand new Clock Spring or Spiral Cable for a 2013 Toyota Hilux for sale.
This tread was a real lifesaver when I needed it. My horn only worked intermediately, only when turning the steering wheel.
I was in Kenya at the time and had to buy a new one from Toyota in Stellenbosch because in Kenya, the Toyota recall was not valid.
And as you will agree, you can’t drive through Africa without a horn.
So once i got back in SA i send the bakkie in for the Clock Spring recall (free replacement), so now i still have a brand new Clock Spring (7000 km only).
I paid R 2700 for this piece of plastic!
Will sell for R 1500, and help you replace yours, even give you a cold beer while your wait. I’m in Stellenbosch.
Phone me at ........
Regards Ruben

If it was not done yet they should honour it. Go to the dealer and ask them to check on your vin nr.
