RELIABLE SERVICING PLACES ? R THERE ANY ?

Post by Earth Wanderer »

Hi There,

I'm really concerned with the service that I receive from our nearest Market Toyota.
It seems that every time I've taken my Lux in it's had to go back to them 3 times to actually get the job done properly!
I'm so despondent and we've spent so much on the work that's eventually been carried out, only to get the Lux back with still some problems pertaining to the job.

We've just had new brake disc pads on the front fitted, the rear half shafts removed and refitted, replaced the shaft seals, bearing and rotor on the back, replaced the rear brake shoes and skimmed drums. They lubed the front and rear suspension... and did the wheel alignment and balancing.

I'm picking up a vibration, like going over bumpy gravel while driving between 80 - 100. I've read on the forum that there are the shafts and rubbers, etc that one should maybe check when dealing with vibrations in that speed region.

I'm a bit confused why Market Toyota wouldn't have picked anything else up as the Lux went in for the 180 000 and 185 000 service at the same time.

Is there anyone else locally that has a good standing as reliable HILUX service providers?

It could also just be a case of these car places dealing with a WOMEN....!!! The last time I had to beg them to check out my release bearing of the clutch as we had a noise and all the advice received was that that was the problem...They waisted my time with "lubricating" it - a bull  story of theirs, drop it today, pick it up, drop it again, another 3 days later same thing.....eventually they checked it and it was on it's way out and we replaced it... and the problem was resolved. Thankfully as we had a 9 000km trip planned and weren't looking forward to breaking down in the middle of nowhere.

I'd thought that staying with Market Toyota would give one the guarantee of workmanship, no matter where in Africa one travels...I'm questioning if it's worth it!

 I'd appreciate any feedback.

Thanks

I've experienced myself and also had a lot of people tell me that Allan Venter 0721291160 (username Hoppy) of AEW is the best person to go to in the Cape Town and surrounds. He specializes in Hilux vehicles.

I'll 2nd that, though it's quite a treck out for us City folk :P

I'd heard really good stuff about a garage in the S.Subs (no names) but after seeing the work done on Molly (she was serviced exclusively by them) I wouldn't recommend them at all :x

The other good Hilux and 4x4 Specialist for City folk is J&B Autos in Parow; not used them myself but have come across many Hilux and Land Cruiser Owners that swear by them  :P

Best o' luck

Rich

Ps... you're not the 1st to complain about market Toyota; they have a shocking reputation on the Forum nê :o:
