Green 4x4 indicator light flashing on dash

Post by FIRSTGEER »

Hi guys hopefully someone can advise me here.I selected 4x4 this morning whilst travelling through a muddy forest section of road,I never got stuck but I selected 4x4 as a precaution and the vehicle performed as per normal.
Directly after the muddy stretch,I stopped, disabled the 4x4 selection via the transfer lever and proceeded as normal.

After completing a repair to a machine at a sawmill, I continued driving back home and then noticed the light flashing.I stopped and moved the lever back and forth into high and low ratio and 2wd a number of times but the light continued to flash.

I have now returned home, tried disconnecting and reconnecting the battery to possibly reset something and then reconnected the battery and even pulled out the plug at the back of the transfer case but to no avail. The damm light keeps on flashing.I also tested the traction on the front diff (selecting 4wd) and drove up a steep embankment and can confirm the transfer box correctly selects 4wd.

My vehicle is Toyota hilux 2,5 srx vigo 4x4.I

Okay guys,I phoned Dylan(AM Racing) and he solved the problem for me.The actuator on the front diff is sticking.I managed to free it but will have to strip it and service it by lubricating it.

Hi Tony.

Can you maybe give me contact details for Dylan please. I have a 2007 Kia Sportage and I also have a green 4WD light that flashes continuously. Nobody seems to know how to sort it out and it irritates the crap out of me. Maybe he could also point me in the right direction.

Sorry for a silly question but is the 4x4 button depressed? The KIA has a "temporary" 4x4 system that only works below 30km/h. Above that it disengages automatically and I think that the 4x4 light will then flash if the button is selected.

Hi Marnus.

Not a silly question at all. On my vehicle there is only 1 button namely the 4WD lock. If I press that if shows 4WD in orange. The one flickering the whole time is green and resembles the 4 wheels and diffs. This starts flickering as soon as I start the vehicle.

I bought this vehicle from Automark Mossellbay in 2014 and I am still fighting with them because they never provided me with the full service record nor owners manual, so I am not even able to check the manual

I'm not sure that it's right to pass on his phone number but you can PM him here on the forum (username AM Racing).
