What is the cost of "extras" on your HiLUX
I've calculated the value of all the extras on my KZ and came to the shocking total of R78 000.
That is without compressor, hi lift jack & recovery kitt. Just the fixtures. Isn't that crazy

When your road comes to an end ...... you need a HILUX!.
Life is like a jar of Jalapeño peppers ... what you do today, might burn your ass tomorrow.
Don't take life too seriously ..... no-one gets out alive.
It's not about waiting for storms to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain.
And be yourself ..... everyone else is taken!

I have quit doing the calculating thing, if it is a hobby and you do it you will quit soon. I know it is scary when you see what it cost on all the nice things that you want. When the guys see there is an opportunity for making money they will exploit it and I am not even mentioning the price of the vehicle. I guess that is life Hey look at it this way you only live once and you do it with your family, so what the heck, pay the price for what you want. Do not snoop yourself is what I say

Re: What is the cost of "extras" on your HiLUX
Kitting out my 'lux was working out so expensive, and being a family man and all, I kinda felt bad every time I took some money out of the savings to spend on myself. It just felt so, selfish you know.
Then I got a bright idea, and after some emotional blackmail from my side, my :) Swambo took it, hook, line and sinker.
Every time she spent some money on herself, manicures, pedicures, waxes, massages, hair does & stuff, she must just put the same, equal amount away for me in a kitty.
I'ts amazing how quickly I could afford some stuff !!!!
Hey, it is kinda fair !!!
Something else I did, I had some months to prepare for my trip to Botswana,
so I kept browsing the Junk Mail, and I got some stuff from there :
TJM Bullbar and winch, worth +/- R 30 k for R 8 k, RTT + Roofrack +/- 12 k for R 2 k, etc, all good stuff, the guys just did not need it any more.
The electrical stuff like the Dual battery system however, I do not like to take chances, and I bought that new from NL, +/- R 2 k. The cables I bought decent thick 35 mm cables from a cable manufacturer at +/- R 65/m wher the local electrical guy wanted something like R 110/m.
Given some time, planning and research you can find some decent prices out there

Re: What is the cost of "extras" on your HiLUX
Some guys pay a fortune to play a round of golf once a week. Some guys spend their money on booze and loose women. Me? I spend my money on my Hilux. And twice a year I take that Hilux on a nice long trip around the country, to use all the accessories I made/bought/accumulated over time, and that way I also share it with my other half, so she also gets to share in my hobby. And we all live happily ever after....

Seriously I made sure that I forgot how much when it went past
R60 000. this is why I keep on telling people, that no matter how much they have spent or how many mods they have done to their vehicle, these extra's you will not get your money back, this is a fact.
