Hilux Refurb - Update 15Sep2009

Post by Gov »

This is our first hilux

Was parked off for about a year before it was sold,

Gave it a service, replaced the battery and drove off.

Picked up a bearing knock on the way home.

It ran a bearing so parked for about 4 months, then gave the motor a complete overhaul

Sorted out the electrical issues and Cleaned it up and sent it for COR

Sent it for a touch up and removal of rust on bin area.

This is how it looks now.

Do that Gov, ... and we'll be looking forward to seeing them, but hang around the forum, read, ask questions .... there's a lot to be learned. None of us know it all, so we build on each others expertise and experience. (and have a little fun inbetween :shifty: ) :D:

Thanks for all the comments guys!!

@kaspaas - It's a 2.8D I have to value every bit of acceleration that I can get, 33's will just destroy that LOL!!!

I'm trying to keep it as Toyota as possible, the raider stripes are from the agents and the seats used to live in a conquest.

Planning to build a nice centre console and some Fogs etc, do it a little at a time when money permits.

I do need side steps though, it is a bit high for people that aren't as tall as me  looking for the ones with the tread plate.

Will keep you guys posted.

Gov,
One of the best looking refurb jobs i've seen.
I'm also looking into getting rid of my "bankie" in front and relacing it with single seats.
Seeing as we are in the same Neighborhood of SA, where did you get the seats and what did they set you back.

Hope to see you at Mahem, hennops, etc some day.

@danman - I picked up those seats from a guy on the Twincam Forum for R400 if I remember correctly, then recovering and fitment cost about R1700.

@kaspaas - One day when I put my lexus V8 and a proper off-road suspension it'll running 33's at least.
