Good then Johnny - Traveller is also quite confident that he will manage the fire - you then be hoisted to the moon....
Important - if you do not have our telephone numbers, please get them and save them on your phones, in case someone pick up problems and is running late. My number is 0ate3 2277 71six. I think to be safe - Mark and Cassies numbers too - in case I don't have signal. Down in the quarry signal is poor.

Re: AAWDC Fun day 14/8 FINAL Program & PLANNING + Photies!!!
I am now logging off - if you need me, please phone me, as I still have some inspections on site to do and will be shooting home direct from site. If I have some time spare at home, I will quickly log on again.
Before I forget - can the camera men bring DVD camera to make movie clips for You-Tube? Especially the hoisting exercise and some of the heavy obstacles. Weare going to do an extensive feedback / trip report about the event for our website afterwards
Thanks
Hennie

Ek haal my hoed af vir almal van julle.
ps. My voet is nie gebreuk nie.

IN TRUE - Hilux Spirt...!!!
Wat meer kan ek nou se
Was 'n wonderlike dag gewees!
Die spangees was fantasies!!!

Was 'n wonderlike dag gewees!
Die spangees was fantasies!!!
Barloworld Toyota Witbank (hemde / gazebo / wors broodjies)
Honeydew Toyota (vlae)
Gearbox & Diff King Witbank
Dankie nogmaals
Hennie
PS: Volgende jaar neem ek deel - die marshal storie was hard en man kan nie eens 'n ou biertjie vat nie

Re: AAWDC Fun day 14/8 FINAL Program & PLANNING + Photies!!!
(is ek korrek marshals?)
ps. Stuart het my laat weet 4 CD's vol foto's.

To all at the event, thanks!!! It was a great day, and although I was only co-pilot in one of the Nissans, I have to say thanks to everyone that made the day possible. The hilux obstacle was great and we again got the chance to put faces to some of the names.
Well done to all

Marshalling at some obstacles were atrocious, but the Cruiser guys kept the flag flying very high the whole day. They, and the Hilux club (and of course the Jeep Club) were very consistent throughout the day. Same cannot be said for either ATV or Gelandewagen (AGAIN - it happens every year)

Re: AAWDC Fun day 14/8 FINAL Program & PLANNING + Photies!!!
I'd like to comment from a competitors perspective....
Up to now it has all been very polite.... We all know the day did not go that well.
Obstacle 3: I was called out by the marshal as a route abandoned because I was too far past the one post on the left (I was still trying to get dreadnought lined up), nowhere in their rules was there anything written about route abandoned when you pass an obstacle and then use a roll back. Unclear instructions.
Obstacle 4: Each time they decide your wheels spin you lost points. Some people lost all points just with the break over part.
Obstacle 5: Well explained before we started, but the marshals had no control over their obstacle, and we ended up trying to thread our way past the last vehicles waiting to enter obstacle 6. Pype sat and waited for a marshal to ask directions, eventually out of frustration he asked Nadine right or left past the marker and he lost 20 points for that.
Obstacle 6: Well explained, well marshalled - Well done Jeep.
Obstacle 7: Well explained, well marshalled - Well done LCCSA
Obstacle 8: Well explained, well marshalled - Well done LCCSA
Obstacle 9: Well explained, well marshalled - Well done Nissan
Obstacle 10: Toyota Owners Club, explain the rules completely do not make them up as we go along. (nice obstacle though). And at this obstacle the behaviour of an ORRU official really alienated me. While pulling Team Skrikniks up the incline (not stuck) Pype in control and the top and Liaan in control at the bottom. He barges in and stops the complete towing. Makes them uncouple a vehicle that is 1m from the top and rig the straps (standard straps) according to his requirements. During this he never even looked at the Skrikniks vehicle that was standing at the top of an incline to ensure it was safely secured to anything. Team Pype, Team Swartbaard and Team Swartvark took control and was in control at all times also during the fixing of the naughty wayward BF.
Obstacle 1: Was designed to damage vehicles??
Obstacle 2: What can I say. Probably the best marshals on the day, they even had a 50 point bonus if you manged to run down a marshal.
I know that my driving let the team down on some obstacles and for that I do not blame the obstacles or the marshals. But I am comparing what I see in how our team was treated.
Then my own vehicle.
Approach angle: impressive after removing the tupperware. My own stupid choice of line at Obstacle 2 was only time I managed to get stuck, dug a recovery point into the soil. And at Obstacle 8 a hasty approach made me tackle a stump.
Breakover angle: not as good as most (probably worst in the team). Het baie gesukkel op Obstacle 3.
Departure angle: I know it is bad, but surprisingly I did not scrape the rear once, not even on the obstacle 8.
Wheelbase: The Vigo was not made to compete with anything SWB. Forget it.
Power: Only on obstacles with short approaches to steep inclines did I need some more juice.
Cooper ST tyres: AWESOME. Some more grip could have helped but running at 1.3 they looked more than once as if they wanted to leave the tyre but they did not de-bead. Same with the other Coopers used on the day. Excellent indeed.

Know what you don't know.

Tx Heinrich, for putting things into better perspective.
Some people are not used to be put into position of power and when they have the opportunity, they tend to abuse it....sad.
It was after all a fun day and I think most of the competitors had the opportunity to be one with their vehicle. Win or loose, I am sure most people learnt from it
