Re: How to reset D4D t-belt light
Don't ignore the timing belt warning .... it's there for good reason! Changing the belt timeously can save you big bucks. The dealers of course are smoking something strange as usual with those over inflated prices, so the trick to reset the light is a good one, but only reset it after you've had someone replace the belt or you've done it yourself.

Re: How to reset D4D t-belt light
That wouldn't be a bad idea, Dylan. There's a lot of the guys that are quite mechanically capable, who would tackle it themselves if they just new how to go about it. Go for it!

Re: How to reset D4D t-belt light
i tried this and it didnt work

This is what i did
Ignition off press and hold trip meter reset button
While holding trip meter reset, switch ignition on (to where all dashboard lights come one, but dont start bakkie) for 5 seconds
Switch ignition completely off (to the point where you can remove the key) release trip meter reset
Press trip meter reset, switch ignition on (to where all dashboard lights come one, but dont start bakkie) and continue holding
(All the usual dashboard lights are on at this point and non go off)

Re: How to reset D4D t-belt light
This one involves the removing of the instrument cluster or partially. There is a small wire held on with a screw next to 2 other holes. Loosen the wire and move it , if I recall to the hole at the end. Switch the ignition on (cluster connected) and start the vehicle it should go off. If not then move it to the hole next door.....Dodging wrote:Anybody know how to do this on an IFS?

NOTE: If the light is not on you cannot reset it. It must come on first!

Re: How to reset D4D t-belt light
Thanks for this, going to try it, I had my cambelt replaced 10000 km ago, they reset the light but last wekeend I removed my speedo cluster and not long after that it came on again, I suspect its due to being disconnected.
I will give it a shot and see if i can reset myself

Re: How to reset D4D t-belt light
I GOT IT!!!!
Tried again this morning and by luck I cracked it
Dylan, your procedure isnt entirely right
Make sure your ODO is displaying and not trip meter A or B
Press reset button with Ignition off and hold it
Turn on ignition and start the engine while still holding button in, hold for at least 5 seconds and release,
DO NOT TURN IGNITION OFF
Press reset button again and a "1" should appear on the screen
If you press again a 2 will appear
I left mine on 2 as I assume this is for the second timing belt
Then press and hold the button in until the light goes off
VOILA!!!

Re: How to reset D4D t-belt light
well the light went off. lol
it makes sense if you think about how the old ones were done.
there were 2 holes on the back of the dash cluster and you had to swop a screw to the second hole (i'm thinking thereby closing the second circuit)
so with this, its kinda switching to the second circuit without removing the cluster.

Daardie waarskuwing is gekoppel aan die ODO. Het jy hom self reset of Toyota?
