Rock Sliders

Re: Rock Sliders
Best is to mount on x2 places onto the chassis.

I know Cobus puts on 3 brackets for the Vigo rock sliders, for the other Hiluxes he only put two

My trappies is uiteindelik gebuig, so ek het nou rede om dit met iets ordentliks te vervang.pietpetoors wrote:I know Cobus puts on 3 brackets for the Vigo rock sliders, for the other Hiluxes he only put two

Re: Rock Sliders
Try and use 12mm bolts - fine tread HT bolts and we use 10mm x 50 flat bar

Re: Rock Sliders
Don't you guys think that 10mm is way overkill? If something were to have to give, I would prefer it to be the slider before the chassis gets kinked. A deformed chassis is very much weaker ans poses a real poblem. It's easier to replace sliders and do any necessary body repair than to strip and repair a chassis.
I had 5mm mounting plates that were 100mm wide, each secured with 4 x 10mm bolts and it sttod up to a lot of abuse ... the tubing bent before the mounting plates. Obviously if one uses only a 50mm wide flat bar, the 5mm gauge would be too thin for rigidity, but 50mm is too narrow IMO ...... a wider plate spreads the stress on the chassis rail over a larger area which is less likely to kink or deform it. It would also allow the bolts to be torqued further.

My opinion:
When off-roading you will either have to drive very fast, or for some reason fall hard on your slider to twist the chasis. I would rather have my sliders strong not to break and damage my body than to worry about the chasis where the changes are very slim that you will get a "twisting". The mounting points must be as close as possible to the cross member/supports on your chasis which make the whole setup even stronger .

Re: Rock Sliders
