Re: Aliens surprise - Wait for it...It's going to be legenda
So I finally took delivery of my Surf on Friday. Well at least my wife did. After waiting about 3 hours for them to put the aircon back together and try and sort out the turbo. She got the car and drove home the afternoon. She called me and said that the car had NO power. It barely wanted to go uphill. Obviously the guys could not get the turbo right… I did a Google search for the problem and found that the main reason could be the boost sensor not working and or pipes in the wrong places…
When she got home I checked but because I knew nothing about diesel nor turbo, I found nothing so I left it. Saturday after the wedding I pulled the car into my f-i-l’s garage and started to strip the air filter just to get to the small pipes which control the boost. One place the pipe was not on and all the others were not “according to me” in the correct places and the check engine light would not go out… So I started to play around and about an hour later I found the correct sequence in which they should be. Well at least I think so. Took it for a test drive and voila. Turbo light came on and I could feel it actually kick in… The only thing I am concerned about is it seems to be extremely heavy on fuel. I mean 4 kilos a liter. This seems abnormal. Can this be checked and set? There also seems to be an oil leak on the sump. This will hopefully be fixed this week. Just have to arrange with my mechanic…
Yesterday I fixed a few small things like the side mirrors which were loose and the switch to set them was stiff and not working. Just a few minor cosmetic issues etc. I want to also start tracing the rattles so I can sort them out because there are few things that I hate more than a rattle.
Now there are a few things I need for it and I hope someone will be able to help or send me in the right direction… I am looking for the windscreen trim. The trim that goes around the windscreen. I am also looking for an original Hilux steering wheel. Brown would be great as the interior is brown. That is so far all I can see. I am also looking for a wiring diagram for it as I want to make sure when I tidy up the wiring that I don’t pull something off and I don’t know where it goes… O’yes, I am also looking for a small intercooler. It has 2 radiators but no intercooler. I feel this would just be better…
I have not had a chance to take any photos yet but as soon as I do I will post them…
