4x4 driver training – SETA Accredited

Post by Ali3n »

Now I have made contact with a guy who does 4x4 training for most Toyota dealers in Gauteng whereby he gives free training to all who bought a new 4x4 from Toyota and after a long discussion I thought I might bring it to your attention. This sounds like a great opportunity for us all here in Gauteng.

Now I will be organizing an event for next year April / May where he will come and drive the route with us and show us a few basics but it will be unofficial and depending on the amount of interest I see here I would possibly want to setup a complete training course where we will receive our certificates. With the new legislation possibly coming into effect sometime soon it might be a good idea to do this as soon as possible.

Now I am waiting for him to get back to me with the exact details of the training and what it entails but here is a short basic list of what we can expect.

Now there is no substitute for experience but before you can obtain experience, you need to understand the basics.

The training will include but not be limited to:

Drivetrains
Detail on diffs and difflocks
Traction control, VSC, ABS etc.
Basic recovery
GPS Basics
The need for equipment as well as advice on accessories

There will be practical driving where you will encounter various obstacles

Please give me some of your comments, suggestions about this as well as what you would want to expect out of this or things you would like to learn more about.

Let’s start a list of who would be interested in this training.

I see some confusion heer. Typical Jeep thing...

The free training will be for our event in April / May. Just the basics. The do's and dont's. The full training session will be for certificates / accreditatio for the up comming new law implimentation which has been mentioned some time back. This will be full on training (practical and theory). This have to be paid for by us. I wI am negotiation a good price forvus but we need numbers. It will be a 5 - 7 hour training session.

Make sense???
