Re: MotorMate DC-DC charger
Johan die manne kan my reg help as ek verkeerd is of van dit uit los. 'n DC-DC is meer effektief as net you normale battery in parralel met you deep cycle te sit.
Glo kort 'n deep cycle ook 'n bitjie hoer Voltage as 'n normale battery om reg gelaai te word.

Re: MotorMate DC-DC charger
The Dc-Dc charger charges your dual battery at it's nominal rate even though you front battery is charging at a lower rate. Eg. My front battery charges at 13.6v while the dual battery charges at a constant 14.2v (the voltage I set it at). So the deep cycle gets charged at it's prefered rate and thus charges to 100% it's capacity. When charging with NL you have to bump up your alternator voltage in order to get the 14.2v at the dual battery which in turn give yoh a charging voltage of about 14.5 to 14.8v at your starting battery. So if you keep the alternator as is, you are going to get about 13.2v to 13.5v which will only charge die deep cycle to 80 or 90% it's capacity.

Re: MotorMate DC-DC charger
Correct, and if the batteries are not the same type, and size etc, a DC to DC will be better than with an alternator, even if it charge only at 13.8 Volt like the motormate?, all I want to high lighted!
