This is basically the same as what diesel trains does.

It uses the engine to drive a generator, generator charges batteries, batteries power the motor
Check the video, it is nogal interesting.

Very interesting! Just can't help wondering how efficient the system really is and if the motor acts as a generator when running "against compression" on slow downs or on hill descents.

Me only wonders if you really need such a big V6 to run the gennie?
