Over the last 4 days the pool level kept on rising and rising and rising ..... just dumped 1 000 liter via the backwash.

That's sea water... probably a high tide with the storm surge into False Bay... yip those wheel bearings will be toast in no time, never mind any pulley bearings low down on the engine!
