Hi Gents
I have a 2.7i IFS shape, it starts, runs on 4 cylinders for a second and then dies.
Any thoughts??

If it did not start the first time, they tend to flood after more attempts.
What mine did just after I bought (7 years ago) it was exactly what you described, start, run one second, die.
I learned to keep my foot far away from the accelerator pedal when starting it, because once you flooded it you won't get it going that same day, try again tomorrow. Or replace the spark plugs and then try again.

Does it happen when the engine is cold / hot/ any time? Random?
When did this start? After a service? replacement of parts?
Any alarm / immobilizers?

has the standard toyota imobilizer
i think its the immobilizer, but was hoping to hear if someone has something similar
Pieter what did you do to remidy your problem? i don't think an efi vehicle can flood. it does start and runs perfectly and then just dies.

Override the mobilizer with your remote and see what happens.I think the plug is in the fuse box.
