That B52 (or was it B25 ?) patrol radio brings back some memories .... think it was made by Fuchs and made use of a rather cumbersome whip antenna, but with a slope wire in a temp base it could communicate over some pretty long distances (25 / 30km).

Looks like the B25.The rechargeable nicade battery clipped onto the left side.The switch near the antenna was for tuning the antenna.We used to speak (via skip ) to the buddies on their CB radios in SA from the Border those days.
You are so right Andy,brings back many good memories of our younger and fitter days.

I think I still got two laying around in my garage. I have to get it out and see if it still works.
