where is my Coolant going?

I have a 3 litre turbo diesel that is using coolant at an increasing rate ..... now uses about 200ml every hundred or so kms... I've had it pressure tested ... no leaks. It starts a dream. No white smoke. No stuttering and runs very well with no power loss. I'm wondering where all the coolant is going ..... and it's not into the cab via the heater. Any advice or previous experience would be great.

Oh my... Must be yet a another kz-te. Cracked head... Losing coolant is the first sign. Have your radiator tested for exhaust gasses.

I was thinking if the head was cracked then there would be white smoke, hard to start, running rough etc. ... bubbles .... ???

Nope. The head cracks from water ports to exhaust ports. So your water can disappear in two ways. Pushing back into overflow or via exhaust. Whichever way, water disappearing from a closed system is indicative of a bigger problem. Go to Silverton and have the radiator tested. Takes 60 seconds

Mine did the same, have a look behind the fan at the shaft at the water pump. if you see any dry coolant residue, like a pale pink and white powder substance, then its your water pump which will need to be replaced, both my hiluxes did the same

Unfortunately I have a cracked head ... Changed the water pump, took it for a 200km drive .... used about 220ml coolant. Took the head to the shop. 130 Australian dollars for the test as there was no visible sign of a crack, and bubbles from within .... coolant was evaporating into the oil system and going out the PCV hose before getting pushed through the turbo and into the intake etc. Found this by putting a catch can in the PCV line. The glycol in the coolant was turning the oil into jelly. So you were right James C ... almost. Apparently they've never seen one crack where this one did. But it did crack.

just rebuilt a kzte but block also suspect loosing water there as well.I could see the difference in hose pressure between old motor and this motor will have to fork R650 out for a gasket again and have another look. Also you can try pulling injectors out as if a cylinder is burning water it changes color.
