KZ-TE - Worrying Fuel Consumption

Post by Joshua »

:?: :?: :?: My Trusty Steed, a 3L KZ-TE D/C with a Dastek Intercooler and 128 000 km on the clock, does concern me a little bit.
Since I bought it 10 000 km ago, it has given me a consumption figure of 7.5 km/l., in town and highway driving.
The open road does not make a major difference.
Comparing this to my previous KZ-TE S/C, no intercooler, with 90 000 km on the clock that gave me 9 km/l under the same driving conditions.
In mho I cannot think that there should be such a major difference between the two vehicles. Both has been serviced by the agents and nothing extra-ordinary picked up.

Where would be the first place to start looking to improve my fuel consumption or am I being oversensitive ?

Just about the only thing those 2 vehicles have in common is the fact that they are Hiluxes and are diesel driven. The motors are different (I/C vs Non I/C), the bodyshapes (D/C vs S/C) are different... You cannot expect the one to return the same consumption figures as the other one. You being oversensitive and lift up on the right foot...

 Excuse my ignorance : Is the Intercooler not supposed to make the engine run more efficient ?

Sterkte

What size tyres does the new truck have? And the old one?

changing from 30'(245) to 31'(265) will see a drop of 1km/l at least...

Naand mense

Everything keeps going right Toyota
