2016 Hilux Recovery Points

Hey guys.. Looking for some advice on recovery points. Planning a trip to Ponta, I've done a bit of sand driving, but my mate is a complete novice to 4x4 driving, guessing may have to do some recoveries.. Been searching on here and the web, but not sure on which way to go.. Some guys are saying the ...

Re: 2016 Hilux 4x4 Tyre choice

So spent 3 hours at Bridgestone technical centre last week, all the tyres out of balance.. Rebalanced, still a slight vibration.. So, will be getting a set of Michi's LTX A/T2 fitted on Tuesday, I guess warranty will pay. On the flipside, went up Sani pass today in the snow, Duelers performed pretty...

Standard 17" wheels.. We had to let Bridgestone balance the wheels, they wouldn't honour the warranty if anyone else balanced it.

2016 Hilux 4x4 Tyre choice

Hi Chaps. I have recently bought a new Hilux, 2.8 GD6 4x4. Vehicle has 6000kms Long story short, been fighting with Bridgestone, 14 tyres later, vehicle still has vibration at 100 - 110km/h. Next step, they will try a set of the import Bridgestone tyres, but I don't have any faith in these either. I...

Re: Tyre Issues Bridgestone Dueler

My brand new D4D 4x4 Hilux with Duelers had the vibration at 110km/h.. Dealer sent the van to bridgestone, they changed 1 tyre, still same the problem.. They ended up fitting 5x Michilen LTX A/T2 on my Lux, been perfect ever since.. I find the Michi's a touch more noisy, but they are so smooth. And ...

Re: Hi from Durban Hilux owner

The only thing I find on the D4D in low range, when feeding the clutch out in 1st gear, its pretty grabby, sometimes it makes you move too quickly when in a precarious position.. But that may be my novice skill... Practice, practice, practice.. until you will get the clutch/brake coordination right...

Re: Hi from Durban Hilux owner

If you were to stall ½ way up an incline, the safest way to proceed is to engage reverse gear, clutch out, foot off the gas and roll back against compression with perhaps light assistance of the brakes ... most likely the motor will fire up again, but even if it doesn't it will still be turning eno...

Re: Hi from Durban Hilux owner

Those sidesteps are too soft .... best replaced with rock-sliders. Personally I would keep the manual .... auto is not ideal for off-road driving. ;-) Yeah, had the truck at the dealer today, the step is a throw away.. Why would you say the auto is not so good off road? Sorry, I have only ever driv...

Hi from Durban Hilux owner

Hi all.

I am a Hilux owner from Durban.

I have my double cab 4x4 manual from June this year..

It's basically factory stock with Michelin Ltx At tyres...

Enjoying it a lot, but going to sell it soon, buying the auto version.

Hope to enjoy the forum.
