Re: PIESANG KLOOF 4X4 11th JULY GUATENG GTG

Hi Guys, I'm very keen to join this trip. I have a Hilux IFS DC with fairly standard setup. Done Groenkloof with it. Still very new to 4x4 and never done a trip like this before. What do I need to bring? I have provisionally put my name down. 1. Quentin 2. Neil & Chane 3. Hennie en Sonja 4. Z &a...

Re: Help - Strange noise from Hilux (IFS) - feedback

Hi Guys, Some feedback. I took the Hilux to Louis. He spotted the problem almost immediately. The center bearing was not properly aligned. I did fit a new one but straight after that I repaired a broken leaf spring and had the leafsprings reset. This must have pushed it out of alignment since the no...

Re: Help - Strange noise from Hilux (IFS)

Hi Guys,

I've recorded the sound from underneath the vehicle. Listen carefully to the background noise you'll hear the strange screeching sound. Any guesses?

I don't know. Am taking the car back to the leaf spring guys to check. Will take comments back from this forum for some fault finding with the mechanic.

If it is the pinion, woudn't it be more of a whining, metallic or grinding type noise?

Re: Help - Strange noise from Hilux (IFS)

If I understand your description, this happens also when stationary ... Hi Andy, Thanks for your response. The sound is heard when accelerating only in first gear. It is not a constant sound but rather a 'che che' slipping type sound (the sound of a spinning tyre on tar). When releasing the clutch ...

Help - Strange noise from Hilux (IFS)

Hi fellow Hiluxers, I'm in need of assistance. Recently my Hilux developed a strange sound. I drive a 2004 2.7i double cab 4X4. The sound occurs under the following conditions: acceleration from stationary position or from slow idle when depressing the accelerator a little harder than normal. The so...

Re: Hilux IFS vs Prado

Thought I'd provide some feedback. I test drove a 2003 Prado, 40 000km more mileage than the Hilux and its sale value is more or less the same. Fantastic vehicle. Serious aircon, much more luxurious inside and a softer ride. Not sure how the vehicle performs on the 4X4 track compared to the Hilux ba...

Re: Hilux IFS vs Prado

Hilux IFS vs Prado

Hi almal, My gat jeuk 'n bietjie.

Re: Hoener in my dashboard

I have disconnected the cable and the sound was gone so the noise is definitely coming from the cable. Funny though, after I refitted it the chi chi sound was gone. There is still a very light crackling sound so perhaps it is a matter of time before it fails.

Re: Hoener in my dashboard

Thanks George, I saw that post. For me, even though very simply layed out, looks like a complicated task however not unachieveable. I do want to learn the mechanics of the hilux a bit better , just wanted to be a bit more sure that it is in fact the speed cable, so I'm going to give it a go. The chi...

Hoener in my dashboard

Hi members, I have the 2.7i IFS (2003). Recently a chi chi..... sound has appeared from out of the dash board on the driver side. It seems to be directly related to speed. The rythm increases as speed increase. Depressing the clutch & brake as well as fiddling with aircon & vents has no effe...

Re: Difficult choice between 2,7 or 3.0 KZTE PLEASE HELP

Hi. I have a 2.7 4x4. I prefer petrol over diesel however I have driven a kz around for a while. Besides sounding a bit agricultural the kz is a fantastic vehicle, sufficient pulling power, little bit lower on fuel burn etc. I dont think you can go wrong with either provided you get a well maintaine...

Ok, so I picked up my 4X4 legend 35 this Saturday. 2700i, 161000km on the clock :celebrate:. It came with some minor mods: Long range tanks SAC chip (not sure exactly what difference it makes but will figure it out soon) Free flow Oupa stig and Masekind, yeh, it came with a little bit of dirt as wel...

Thanks for all the welcomes! Really nice & looking forward to learn. Suppose the first step is to do a 4x4 course. Have posted a picture of my cab just for the sake of it. They all look the same but I suppose they are like your own baby- precious!

ANOTHER NEW GUY

Hi, I’m new to this forum, from Pretoria and only discovered this site fairly recently. I must add that the information available is fantastic. I bought a 2700i Legend 35 4X2 (upgrade from city golf to first bakke) in December and fell in love with that model. I have also been exposed to 4X4 driving...
