Hi,
I'm going to help out a friend with servicing his 2.4l Diesel Hilux (SFA shape).
Can anyone help me with part numbers for :
1) oil filter
2) diesel filter
3) air filter
4) Oil (e.g. 15W40?)
He doesn't have the bakkie's owner's manual anymore, does anyone have a PDF manual?

Baie dankie.

ABS Light comes on
Good day.
I've been having trouble with my 2001 Hilux. Ever since I had the CV boot replaced, the ABS light comes on when I drive . ABS seems to work fine. Have somebody experienced this? Where is the best place to have it checked out in the Cape Town area.
Thanks in advance

That is a very good average for that speed and assuming you must have been loaded to the max.. What is your average under normal conditions (100-120km/h)?

Thanks Mr B and Johan.
Johan, thats some very good advice. I am indeed replacing the stock steering damper. With regards to performance, is there any difference between Gabriel and Monroe steering dampers?
Kind regards

What steering shock should I get?
Hi,
I need to replace my Hilux's (2001 2.7i Hilux) steering shock. What brands should I look at and what prices should I expect? I am not doing heavy 4x4ing with the bakkie.
Thanks in advance

Thanks for all the replies.
I agree, at the end it depends on what you want in a bakkie. My understanding is that the V6's engine will last longer and to service it would be cheaper than the 3l D4D.

Advice needed: 3l D4D or 4l V6
Hi All, A friend of mine is looking to buy a 4x4 bakkie and has to decide between the Toyota Hilux 3l D4D and the 4l V6. He is currently the owner of a 3l Isuzu and enjoys the 11 - 13km/l fuel consumption and is struggling with the thought of the 4l V6's consumption (although there are people that g...

Re: 2700i valve noise cold start
I have noticed the same with my 2.7, although not every time. If the engine has hydraulic lifters (which I am not sure now), that might be the problem. Once engine is hot or warm, the noise is gone.
Can anyone confirm if the engine uses hydraulic lifters, shims or adjustable rockers?
Thanks

Ek moet darem sê dat daar n paar hande bygedra het tot die bumper se sukses.
Die finale koste van die bumper is so R4000.

Hi,
My 2.7i has developed a nasty habit of letting the air bag light coming on after you drive a few kilometers.
Can anyone give me some advice on this? Will be checking out the airbag sensors at the front Today.
Thanks in advance

I have seen and heard of a couple of guy that has replaced their normal suspension with air suspension. Is this a good choice? Where would be the best place to get and install it in the Cape Town area and what would it cost ?

Re: Diesel VS Petrol sand tracks in the bush
Hi Dalkill I'm not an expert, but I have driven a couple of sandy tracks and got stuck a couple of times as well. With sand, you unfortunately need speed (not too much, just like the first and last video clip explained), as you won't have any grip once you started to climb a dune. Petrols tend to do...

Wanted: 2001 Toyota Hilux rear wheel pulley
Hi,
The previous owner of my 2001 Toyota Hilux, removed my rear wheel carrier (the one that fits underneath the load bin).
Got a quote from the dealers = R1800 to get a new one. Does anyone know where I can get a secondhand one or just one for a better price?
Thanks in advance

Advice Needed: Which chip brand is best?
Hi All, i'm new to the Hilux 4x4 forum and hope to learn a lot from the more experienced Hilux drivers. I'm not sure if this was asked before. Have anyone chipped their 2.7i Hilux (1998-2002) model. Mine (double cab) is chipped by Turboman (by previous owner), but I'm wondering if I shouldn't go for...
