Re: '87 Hilux DC Re-build

That looks awesome. You need to post a video or two so that we can hear the motor.

Re: '87 Hilux DC Re-build

This may be a silly question, but does the power steering pump on the 3UZ work fine with the steering box on the Hilux? Was it just a matter of plumbing to get them to work together?

Re: SFA Hilux Rebuild/3UZ Lexus Conversion

Hey Reinhart, I am starting to look at the wiring on my project and it can be pretty daunting. I came across a good video series on youtube which has some pretty good tips for making your own harness and wiring up an engine from scratch. Doesn't hurt that its a 1UZ either. You should give it a watch...

Re: '87 Hilux DC Re-build

Looking good. Do you guys doing this conversion have any workshop manuals for the 3UZ? I'm Having a hard time finding anything online. I can help you out with wiring diagrams on the 3uz but also no luck with complete workshop manuals. Thanks Reinhart, I have the wiring Diagrams but looking for more...

Re: SFA Hilux Rebuild/3UZ Lexus Conversion

...Initially decided to go aftermarket engine management because I wanted a First Gen Square Rail 1uz with the beefy rods, low compression and just turbo it. But on account of the tuner he was leaning towards the newer motors, which after taking a drive with his 3uz Hilux Vigo using the exact same ...

Re: Howsit Going...

Once I start making a bit more progress I could start a build thread here, is that OK considering it's not Hilux related?

Re: Howsit Going...

Hey Knuppel, Your lucky to have the heavy duty version. They aren't available here. Once I have the 3UZ up and running I'll be swapping out the axles for Patrol (Y61) axles. Seems they are the toughest out there for still reasonable money. I was considering running 80 series axles but from speaking ...

Re: Howsit Going...

Thanks for the welcome guys. The 80 has been a slow build, I've had it for over 5yrs now and little by little I built it up into what it is now. The 70 will no doubt be a slow build also. I'm looking forward to learning from what you guys on this forum are up to.

Cheers
Ryan

Re: SFA Hilux Rebuild/3UZ Lexus Conversion

Hey Reinart, Looks like you are making good progress. I have recently picked up a 3UZ that I will be putting into a SWB70 Landcruiser so will be following your progress closely. Why did you choose to go with the Link G4+ Fury as opposed to sticking with the stock ECU? I am trying to figure out which...
