EGT of around 720 deg C is considered to be the highest value allowed on sustained driving.

Fit a Madman or similar monitor that will keep an eye on your EGT probe and your coolant/water level.

The WL25 is a great little engine. Way better than anything of that size from Toyota :o:

The Series chassis was no more prone to rust than any mild steel chassis I reckon. Try find a early SFA Hilux at the coast without chassis rust? As for being easier: nope, there are just too many cross-member and outrigger differences, it would take a year just to measure and weld up the extra bits....

Sounds like a lot of trouble for a 55" axle? The Nissan axles are 59" at least.

By the way, most 4-banger SFA Hiluxes in SA run 4.88:1 ratios. We didn't get the 6-cylinder engines over here.

Can you clarify on the which Lux's had which diff ratio and why?

(I understand that the 2.2 had the 4.88:1 diffs, but didn't the 2.8D have 4.1:1 or something?)

I need a SFA with a 4.1:1 ratio, and I don't know if such an animal was sold as standard.

Is it a clear, definite vibration felt through the steering wheel, or more of a feel-in-the-bum type of low-level vibe?

Either way, just check the exhaust if it could touch anything, and then have a look at gearbox cross-members and engine mounts.
