Just an update, completed my 1st long distance trip with the 1jzgte hilux with zero issues.

Far lighter on fuel compared to the KZTE and what a pleasure to drive with all that power.

Did a 4x4 trail in Knysna too.

Do anyone know who performed the 1JZ confirmation into a hilux and kept the 4x4.

I would like to contact them for some questions.

Van is currently still by Alan , will update once I receive confirmation.

Images of the damaged timing gears

Van is currently in for repairs at Allan, we decided to do a complete rebuild of the motor.
We received the new cylinder head and had to replace all the timing gears and timing covers.

Alan suggested that I rather fix my motor.

Plan is to fit the AMC head and Colt diesel pump.

Does the Colt pump make any difference to performance and consumption on the KZTE?

The 1JZ was a good motor but getting old now and spares will also be a problem, so I would stick with the KZ and do the repairs ... should cost a helluva lot less than a conversion even if you already have the motor. Will also help to retain the resale value if it's the original motor as opposed to...

Jeez that's impressive. Give Allan Venter a call - 0seven2 one2nine 11six0 - he is the Hilux whisperer and knows these motors backwards. Possibly also query from him whether to swap out the head whilst you're at it as apparently the earlier model heads were prone to cracking... Lucky with the belt!...
