Only reason I can think of is that the connector(screw that you turn that holds the wire) is not properly making good contact with the wire and the diode thus causing it to melt, what does it look from the otherside, cant you maybe use a connector block between the diode and the wire. I have my solar panel permanently mounted on my roof rack. I recently noticed that the amp output is much less than expected (rated 6 amp) - sometimes less than 1 amp in midday sun. Did mine without cutting anything. Just bend the bracket on the cab downwards. Best part is you can 'fine tune' the bending until it is exactly right. no cutting and 100% reversible if you don't like it. :dance1: Don't like an angle grinder near my bakkie - or seats!! :silent: This is fantastic adv...

Those split pins will never just fall out if they're curled back, don't worry about them. Your failure was as a result of the ball joint itself failing, not a very common thing, at least not common without warring signs of it being worn .... things like it being noisy, shudders or pulling to the si...
