I cleaned mine up soaking it in brake fluid for 30 minutes, and then getting a good pair of pliers and un-jammed it, got all the junk and corrosion out. been working fine since then, around 2 years now. Just remember to wash it well and dry it before installing it again.

For you non believers, send me your email addresses! Every time I put fuel in, I write down mileage, price etc and then at the end of the year I work out my average consumption in my logbook. I will scan it and send the pics to you to prove!

Average fuel consumption on my 4Y with carb for the last 4 years is 9.47 km/l, mostly around town with the odd long distance.
It's just coming up to 300 000 km on the clock, and is original motor.

I may also be interested in that body if in fair condition. Would like to fix the rust if not too bad, take down to bare metal and galvanise it. Then replace my single cab with the double cab. My single cab and load body has SERIOUS coastal cancer now, and I hate to see her looking so sad!

Jan, I actually saw a red mboza bodies hilux in PE, but the hilux single cab body. The guy has had it for around 6 years, and no problems so far.

I also looked at this option a while ago, but struggled to get another body in good condition at a good price. Living at the coast, decided to go the complete strip down, rebuild from scratch with a galvanised chassis and mboza fibreglass 4 runner body. Make it good for another 20 years!

Had mine for 3 years now, 75000 km on the clock and still going very strong. Am offroad quite often and have never had a problem, except in wet clay mud, then slides a bit. I think would easily still get around 25 to 30000 km out of them.

From a personal point and experience, A thin wood chisel, nice and sharp, placed under the driver seat with the handle on the floor and the blade just pushing the seat fabric up has had great deterrent consequences, also leaves a nice blood trail to follow, and usually doesn't mean walking a kilomet...

Hey Jaco, bought the brushes from a spares shop in PE, they are for the Isuzu, but 2 swipes on sand paper and they fit the toyota. I sorted mine out today... Bought a 1600 toyota corolla complete fan with cage from a scap yard for R150. No modification was necessary, I am just not to sure which mode...
