Rob, I sent you a pm. What's your plan with the 5L? I'm looking for one.

Re: Just an idea
Thabo, you're absolutely right. Amazing how much easier it is to fit a Ford engine to a Lux than a genuine Toyota engine, other than of course doing a "plug and play" fitting of a 5L. My needs are fairly simple; I would like to cruise at 110-120 and have as close to (or preferably no less ...

Just an idea
Guys, it would be really helpful if those who have converted their 4Y's, 2L's & 3L's to whatever other 4 or 6 cylinder Toyota engine, publish a parts and references list like SifuLux did; http://www.hilux4x4.co.za/views/download/file.php?id=4967. Costs and source references for all parts, togeth...

Re: ENGINE REPLACEMENT ON 2.8D
Ja Jan, dan vertel jy my jy's 'n armgat! OK, so waar in die Kaap is Maverick 4x4? Daai 3.3 liter klink nogal ...

Re: Calling all Ford v6 guys
Go for the 3.oL. I had a JT3000 conversion with the German Cologne version in my old Lux from a Ford 20M. If you can get one of these, you're in the pound seats. Had a lot more torque than the Essex version. This I know as a mate of mine had an Essex with Wildcat branches en all and going up Fishers...

Toyota 3B Diesel engine for SFA Lux
Gents, do any of you know if someone/anyone (preferably in Cape Town) has successfully built a 3.4L 3B engine (Land Cruiser BJ 40/Dyna) into a SFA Hilux? I bought my Hilux with a 5L 3Litre (replaced the original 2.8) fitted and although she runs quite nicely, I would prefer better inherent reliabili...

YIP! (So where's the drum-roll smiley?) You are all 100% correct. It was only the battery and the load test showed that the alternator is charging at 14.2V. Battery problem SOLVED. Re: Battery problem
Thanks Gentlemen! Your advice is appreciated. The battery is 5 years + old and I spoke to a buddy of mine who is in the game and in the know late last night and you are all correct. I will in any event invest in a new battery and keep the old one as back-up. I will also do the load test to...

Battery problem
I drove my newly acquired SFA Double cab Hilux from PE to Bellville yesterday and was on the road for about 9 hours. This morning when I wanted to start the vehicle the battery was almost completely dead. I managed to swing the motor for about 2 seconds. By late this afternoon, I noticed that the im...
