Re: My sfa steek vas as voorwiele gelsluit is.

Dawie - when the hubs are engaged the propshaft does rotate. If I remember correctly the cost of the propshaft was around R800 from N1 4x4, just outside Pretoria. Hoop jy kom reg!

Re: My sfa steek vas as voorwiele gelsluit is.

Hi Dawie - Had a similar problem a couple of months ago with my SFA - after replacing my free-wheel hubs, my side shafts, universals, etc, etc (basically overhauled the complete front diff) the problem was still there. I then found the bush in the front prop shaft had worn out. (This bush is located...

Re: Bosch altenator

Hi Frans - I had a similar problem with my Bosch alternator with the red light burning lightly under 3000 revs. I handed the alternator in to the auto electricians and they replaced brushes, bushes and bearings. After re-fitting the alternator I noticed the red light was still burning dimly. I then ...

Re: Botswana trip

Hi Zane - My wife and I toured Botswana (solo) for three weeks in December in a 1988 HiLux and would recommend GO FOR IT! We made no bookings and had no problem finding accommodation anywhere. I would recommend prior booking at the National Parks. Bookings and fees are not accepted at the gates and ...

Re: Good Toyota Service Center in Joburg

I agree with Oooms 100% - Ralph Beyers, owner of Toyo Service Centre has worked on my Hilux for many years - both minor & major services. He was actually trained by Toyoto, and is very knowledgeable on all models of Toyota. I have just completed a 6000km trip to Botsana with not a single problem...

Re: TOUR TO CENTRAL KALAHARI DEC 2009

Hi Louis & Hennie - Temperature at that time of year can be high, but not really unbearable. No definite route has been planned from Drosky's onwards. I am open to suggestions and Chobe could be a viable option. I havent made any bookings as I have found that not too people tour at that time of ...

Re: OL' GREY

Hi Mud Dog - The stay cables come in very handy as a washing line or for wind drying biltong - only joking they are there to deflect branches off the windscreen in the bush. The motor is a 4Y 2.2 petrol with Brospeed Branch and 50mm exhaust. Cruises nicely at 100 - 110kmph

OL' GREY

Here are some pics of my pride and joy, Old Grey (1988 Hilux). I have spent most weekends for the past few years lovingly restoring this beauty and in return have enjoyed thousands of trouble-free kilometres touring through South Africa, Mozambique, Botswana and Namibia.

TOUR TO CENTRAL KALAHARI DEC 2009

I am planning to tour the Central Kalahari and North Western Botswana in December 2009, and would like to know whether anyone is interested in joining us. Will be departing from Krugersdorp +- 12/12/09, up to Khutze then through the Kalahari up to Ghanzi, Drotsky's Caves and Tsodilo Hills. Dink dit ...
