Re: Re: Andy's "new" LUX

The brass fitting on the return line of the carb has a pin hole diameter (I took it off a spare weber 36 I had.) May old carb may be in the spares box I gave you. It's enough to balance the pressure. If the bakkie stands for a while (more than a week or so)the fuel seems to evaporate in the line nea...

Re: Re: Andy's "new" LUX

Greetings from the USA. Glad to hear old Sifu-Lux is performing well, I stripped and completely rebuilt that Weber carb when I put this engine in. Took some time to get the float level tuned, and with the electric fuel pump it seems to have not problems. One mod I did make was to drill out the one b...

Hi Andy, sad indeed... wish I could take it with me. I have never had any issues with the carb (Weber 38 DGAS) other than once running out of fuel after a high revving long climb. I never understood all the other guys problems as I never experienced any with this carb. Maybe the electric fuel pump h...

Hi Andre, as far as the rear spring leaf packs go, retensioning does not last and is a waste of your money. Rather shop around and get a new set of springs. Re: What i've done and where i'm going with my SFA

I take it they did supply you the spring pack for the diesel Hilux? Petrol and Diesel packs are different. Diesel has more leaves to account for the extra weight of the engine over the petrol model.

Give it a light polish with 600 grit water paper then a light wipe with some oil until you assemble it. Don't paint it, the felt outer seal should run on the bare metal. Don't worry, it won't rust

Re: Larger Tyres - better or worse fuel economy ?

The 31" tyres are about the equivalent of a 265/70/15 which is wider and heavier, resulting in higher rolling resistance, and therefore higher fuel consumption. Should not be too much higher though than with the 245's
