If the bakkie is not lifted and standard tyres you should get 8km/L @ 120km/h. Lifted with 31" tyres closer to 7km/L. Remember at 110km/h you should get 10% better consumption than at 120km/h. Don't worry about the 2.7 gearbox, it is strong enough. I would recommend Spitronics for flexibility a...

No a 35" stays a 35". Since it is sitting on a 17" rim it just has a shallower sidewall. 35" is the outside diameter. 12.5" is the width of course.

Die Hilux bakkies is nie permanente 4wd soos die Fortuner nie.
As jy hom in 2wd het trek hy net agter. Die bietjie ekstra gewig van 'n voorste diff en prop sal jou so 0.2 km/L kos.

Grootste verskil is koste en beter vermoë.

Option number two is jack one side of the bakkie up and turn the wheel by hand. Count the turns of the wheel and the turns of the driveshaft. Basic maths and you have your diff ratio !!!!!!!!!!

Die brandstofverbruik op die ooppad teen hoë spoed sal naby aan dieselfde wees vir die petrol en diesel. Teen laer snelhede sal die diesel 'n merkbare voordeel hê.

3200*31/33 = 3006 rpm. The diff ratio you would need is 2800/3200*4.88 = 4.27 or closest.
I agree about going to 33's, they just look better.

PS : 33" muds + 4.55 ratios will give you 2802 rpm :boss:

3400rpm@120km/h klink nie reg nie. Ek het standaard 2.7 diffs en gbox, met 31" bande kry ek 3000rpm@120km/h GPS. Het jou bakkie nie miskien diff ratio veranderings gehad nie?

Does the noise happen at full lock or in between as well? If only at full lock put some grease on the steering stops. If it occurs at any angle other than straight it could be tie rod ends/ball joints as you mention. Even if properly greased they could still be worn and noisy.

Ek was besig om my bakkie se centre bearing te vervang en kon toe nie myself indink wat die doel van hierdie "stuk draad" is wat die agter diff aan die chassis connect nie. Dit is net bo die handremkabel.

Enlighten me please?

Slave cylinder is gaar, kan seëls vervang vir min geld, maar as die cylinder pitted is sal jy hom moet vervang. Nie 'n groot job nie.

Het jy hierdie simptome aan die garage beskryf en toe vervang hulle jou master cylinder???

"pull away in 4wd, then pull it back to 2wd once you're in 2nd gear"

So that means you drive around with locked hubs permanently. 2wd is the way to go.

Ek ry al 6 maande sonder my stabiliser bar, het dit een keer afgehaal vir meer wheel travel op 'n roete en toe nooit weer opgesit nie.
Mis dit glad nie, bakkie body roll net effens meer om draaie, maar ek geniet dit eintlik meer so, voel soos lorrie ry :-)

Not as common as 31's for sure, but also not expensive. R1930 per tyre fitted for Maxxis Bighorn M/T (tyretraders.co.za)
No ratio change is necessary.

32's + 1" lift on the torsion bars and you will have a very capable rig.

I have a Lexus V8 in my bakkie and measuring 70degC after the radiator, thus cooled. Also running a KZTE radiator. I have the standard Lexus thermostat in, check what your thermostat is rated at, that should be close to your coolant temperature before cooling.

If I remember correctly there isn't a fuse that reads "alarm" or something to that extent. But there are not that many fuses in the fuse box anyway. Just check everyone (about 10 max) and replace if needed. I once pulled the fuse for the cabin light and that caused the alarm not to functio...
