My vrou se Honda het die CVT boks, geen probleme na 114000 km en loop baie lekker. Sy het n groter kar nodig so het vroeer vanjaar die 2l Rav met CVT boks gekoop - baie gelukkig.

Thanks for the detailed advise Chris! I decided on the WRND 20A unit - its the same price as the 12A HCDP, but automatically switches between solar and alternator.

Some nice ideas here, I'm also redoing my system as the NL solenoid is not nearly adequate for charging the two extra batteries I have. I believe a dc to dc charger would improve the charging, so I'm looking at the 30A HCDP or the CTek 250 - both allowing solar input. Anyone with experience on these...

I ride mine on 200, and when loaded and trailvan I go 2.5 back and 2.2 front (obviously tar use). This works for me, tyre wear seems good.

Baie dankie vir die terugvoering. Dit is nie vir my moeite om te skakel tussen alternator en sonpaneel - die sonpanele is draagbaar en sal dus op dieselfde brad harrison plug gesit word wat gebruik word om die alternator te koppel.

Ek het toe die HCDP 12A gekoop, prys van CTEK kon ek net nie regverdig op hierdie stadium nie. Nou sukkel ek so bietjie om die installasie te verstaan - ek hoop daar is iemand wat kan raad gee. Baie dankie Chris, ek het nogal oorweeg om eerder 2 van die HCDP 12A te koop - een vir sleepwa en een vir bakkie. Dan is daar nog heelwat kleingeld oor.

Unforunately it appears that the clutch is a problem on these vehicles - do an internet search and you will find the evidence.
You are lucky to have gotten to that mileage, assuming it is still the original clutch.

Thanks for the response, air springs seems to be the way to go. Not really keen on the extended shackles as the weight is not constant, only when fully loaded.

Thanks for the response, I do mainly longer distance trips, not a lot of driving in traffic, and towing either offroad trailer or caravan about once a month. I've never owned an auto bakkie before, so cannot make up my mind of it is the right thing to do.

That's more or less the same as my consumption, problem is it is even worse doing long distance at 120km/h - struggle to get 8, sometimes even down to 7.2.

I bought a 2nd hand Front Runner roof rack which came without the mounting tracks. I've got the feet - can anybody give some advice of where to get a pair of tracks that will work, or is Front Runner the only option.

I think I may have a solution that won’t break the bank (too much) at this stage – I would like to get some feedback from the guys that know more about this stuff than me. Thanks for the replies. Would the Ctek 250 DC to DC charger work to charge these batteries, or would I need a DC to DC charger on each battery. If it would be a very expensive set-up to charge all 3, I would rather keep battery #3 off the system and only charge when we have power available.
