Re: OBD II protocol
Thanks for the info Tony. After alot of surfing I figured out that Toyota (well my Hilux) is in fact not OBD II compliant. It uses a "protocol" named MOBD (Multiplex OBD). The devices that can read MOBD vehicles costs thousands. I will continue investigating and will report back if theres ...

OBD II protocol
Hi gents, I hope you can help me. So far I have figured out that my 2011 hilux uses the ISO 9141-2 protocol. Is this correct? However when I try to connect with various software it fails. I get an "BUS INIT ERROR" i.e. the vehcile does not respond to the request to connect. Any ideas or ex...

Re: 2011 D4D Xtra Cab sound quality issues
Hi Pompy,
Your guess is spot on...the clutch shuddered-quite a lot.
Fortunately the clutch does not shudder on my new xtra cab!
I requested the dealer to fit new speakers in the front and back to my new car and man what a difference. The volume is the same but the quality is ten times better!

Re: BF Goodrich tyres
Thanks everyone for the info, really appreciated! I think it will be better to fit the 31x10.50R15 (translates to: 266/76/15) compared to 30x9.50R15 (translate to 241/78/15) tyres because: 1. The tyres are wider and thus I will have more grip 2. The tyre height is 31" compared to 30" so I ...

Re: BF Goodrich tyres
Thanks for the information Heinrich. I will definitely give them a call. What I meant with the tyres sizes is that the following sizes are available in 15" according to BF's website (there is no 255/70/15) and I would like to hear from you guys which is the size to fit to my vehicle: LT215/75R1...

Re: 2011 D4D Xtra Cab sound quality issues
Hi Pompy,
Did you manage to fit the 6" speakers? How difficult was it to DIY? And what did it cost?
I also have an Xtra Cab and must agree the sound is really poor - this was the first thing I noticed when driving away from the dealership.
BTW, do you have any issues with your clutch?

Re: VIN decode
Thanks Tumelo. That was my first thought as well.
My Hilux is imported, will they still know when it's manufactured or will they give me for example the date it was registered on the Toyota SA system?

VIN decode
Hi all,
I have searched the forum but cannot get an answer to this.
How do you decode your VIN to determine when your vehicle was built etc?
