Yes Mars, I was worried about that.. I thought it's for diesel engine. But then i read the specs in manual, and it seemed to be OK on paper. And on the bottle it says for diesel and petrol engines. It turns out that the pump is the same as for the KZTE. The original gasket against the engine block was a thin metal gasket with a thin rubber coating on either side and is very nicely made. With the replacement pump I got normal paper gaskets. The instructions in the pack said to coat the gaskets...

the noise i'm referring to is more on fevving the engine.. sound almost like a bearing knock...
according to the comments those are fairly normal of the D4D, especially when cold. But i noticed you mentioned that your noise stays there even when reaching operating temp?

hilux needs 230K service... On advice from all over the interewebs, Delo 400 has been my choice last two services. But now I'm wondering which one i should buy... apparently Delo 400 MGX is the one to go for , for the D4D? filters from toyota... prices from toyota... this on par or dealer try to rip...

Eish.. and here i thought surge protectors was the answer to my problems. We havealos resorted to switching off appliances when scheduled load shedding was due... but after a few days of no load shedding at the advertised time slots, we just forgot about it. And now i'm afraid load shedding sporadic...

Indeed... IMHO... fitment looks better than the Revo infotainment system. That just looks slapped on as an afterthought. :surrender:
If you look at this installation, fits neatly into the mouldings, as if it was purpose built to be there.

There must have been something seriously wrong with your 4Y Hilux. Mine could do 110 in 3rd at 5000rpm.... i had two 4y's. One SA built and one import. Import one was knew, with less than 10000km on the clock. Both struggled up Sir Lowry's Pass hill. Flat ground, it was OK... but any hill... :frust...

there is some truth in what you saying Craig. But it's honestly not that practical all the time, especially with petrol engine. I have been thru the range of hilux engines. 10km / l for a SFA is very good.
Compared to the petrol cousin who gets about 5 - 6 km / l...

SO i did some digging into this little magic switch. It's called a thermal fuse. It's purpose is to "pop" when the oven gets too hot. This may be for various reasons. Some ovens have self cleaning option where it goes above normal max temps , and sometime the thermal fuse mistakes this for dangerous...

I got it and I'm not all that impressed. It's feels very flimsy. Almost as if a crowbar could easily bend it open. I haven't tried it, but it looks as if deflating the tyre would allow for the clamp to just fall off. I wouldn't expect it to offer any security. i think takealot got 7 day no question...
